You are correct, MolonLabe. During the Jurassic period the CO2 levels in the atmosphere were as high as 7,000 ppm. Today they are down around 390 ppm. By the way, animals and plants and fishes survived very well during the Jurassic period.
This is great information, MolonLabe. Where did you find it? I would like to share it with several of my friends!
Go for it - it is always refreshing to see science actually looked at even by denialists So what part of those dips were caused by solar and orbital effects? and of course since many on these threads seem to enjoy cartoons
Ha-Ha! Bird, Please provide the reliable sources for these charts. They are very good. Where did you obtain them and are there discussions available that help to better explain them? By the way, in spite of what you may think, my mind is not made up. I am willing to accept the fact of global warming if I can find some credible science that clearly supports. So far I have not been able to uncover any! These charts mat help. Thanks!
Um, despite not addressing any of the points in my post, you deem be to be mistaken. I guess billions of tons of pollutants produced by civilization and dumped into a closed system (earths atmosphere) doesn't have any effect whatsoever. Please explain this counter intutive position. I also notice that you insist on using the canard that jurassic animals and plants got along okay with 10 to 15 times the CO2 in the atmosphere as some sort of validation that CO2 percentages are not important. Of course that couldn't have anything to do with the fact that all life would be adapted to the conditions of the time. Were humans and dinosaurs contemporaries?
People who always insists on scientific evidence from others are people who don’t trust their own judgment and common sense! It is also a convenient way for them to reject the truth, the actual truth they never wanted to accept anyway! By the way, the earth’s atmosphere is not a closed system. It is a system that is clearly open to the space environment. Please get your science facts straight! Josna, when you say billions of tons of pollutants produced by civilization have been dumped into a "closed" system (earth's atmosphere), please explain what horrendous effects we humans and other animals have experienced so far? As an example, look at all the black pollution the stupid Iraqis dumped into the atmosphere of Kuwait when they left the country and set thousands and thousands of oil wells on fire. I know people who were over there at the time, and they have confirmed the desert sands were actually covered with layers of thick black soot from all the oil well fires. Today, if you travel to Kuwait there is absolutely no evidence of this horrific environmental disaster whosoever. Observe in the following video the black soot that is being released into the earth's environment from these horrendous oil well fires. Doesn't matter what is causing the globe to heat up, we best start building sea walls along both coasts. And if you like breathing CO2, be my guest. Most of us want to expel that stuff.
C02 could cause the green house effect on earth like it does on Venus. The main difference is concentration of CO2. On Venus C02 is 70% of the atmosphere. On Earth C02 is .003% of the atmosphere. Anyone who claims the Earth is warming due to C02 is a lying moron.
You are forgetting at at that time scientists predicted that it (if the fields are set on fire) will cause global winter.
Oh I would love to hear the observations you have made of how common sense tells you that the earth is not flat and the sun does not revolve around the earth.
Do you mean Christie? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPxDnb2-aVI&feature=relmfu"]Governor Christie on Climate Change - YouTube[/ame]
Yes, that seems to be my point. It seems the people who most bleat about CO2 are the ones who are producing most of it. I could live to be a thousand and not have produced the amount of carbon dioxide that Al Gore has. When the people who scream that this is an emergency actually start living like it's an emergency, maybe I'll pay attention to them.
Pointing out that the miniscule amount of CO2 in Earth's armosphere (LESS THAN 400 ppm, or LESS THAN .000400), is far too small to be changing tha planet's climate, is "what he is doing..."
Thank you for giving me the perfect opportunity to post again what I love to point out every time the dreadful specter of (gasp!) carbon dioxide is paraded before us by the hyperlib climate experts and other mal-educated morons. Hey, kids! Know how much of the Earth's atmosphere is contaminated and poisoned by carbon dioxide...? -- "Oh, crap! I won't be able to sleep for a week!" Ya ready for this? Sphincters tightened appropriately? -- "Stop it! You're killing me with suspense!" Only about 0.03 percent of the Earth's atmosphere consists of carbon dioxide. For those of you who didn't, uh, do too well in school, that's three hundredths of one percent. Want links? You couldn't view them all in a 24-hour day! And remember -- Knowledge can cure ignorance, but it can't cure stupidity!
For a start - get your facts right http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11395765 http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0031018211003063 Jurasic was a long period too - which part are you referring to? And keep in mind - the plants and animals of the time were adapted to that climate
How much of a mirror is the reflective surface? How much ink do you need to put into a glass of water to change the colour? (If you believe homeopaths you only need one or two molecules) The amount required to affect the atmosphere IS minute - and even smaller for substances like methane
OK...what is the exact ratio to degree Celsius , in parts per million, or decimal, of CO2 in a closed gas mixture, like the Earth's atmosphere, and provide the DETAILED account of the LIVE LAB TEST, UTILIZING ACTUAL SCIENTIFIC METHOD, that PROVES IT. We know...you cannot... NO WARMIST can, because the ACTUAL, THERMAL RETENTION of .000382 atmospheric CO2 is VIRTUALLY ZERO, which EVERY chemist worth his salt knows already....no matter how you try to spin it, with asinine analogies....
Actually it is more like 90% and the surface temperature is high enough to melt lead - over 470 degrees celsius Which nicely proves that CO2 does affect surface temperature of the planet
