And then the kid attacked him. That is also a fact that is written in the POLICE REPORT. A cop also heard Zimmerman say that he had called out for help while being attacked. Zimmerman's life was threatened, he had a gun, so he used it. I would have done the same thing if placed in a similar situation. There is absolutely nothing wrong with defending your own life when it is in danger of being ended.

Or he thinks, based on what he has studied, his neighborhood position (and responsibility) and the fact that he has been entrusted to carry a concealed firearm that he can simply prevent the young fellow from exiting the area until police arrive.

But the young fellow surprises him by being resistant and he panics, pulls out the gun and fires a single shot.

It isn't hard, based on the limited information to suggest a scenario where he could argue self defense.

The man, though he iniates the confrontation is NOT legally obligated to wait until the young guy actually draws a weapon and brings it to bear.

I've gotten lots of criticism here over my position. But even I've said more than once that the shooter should probably get jail time. For manslaughter at the very least.

I am getting bent out of shape for the simple fact had this been a black man on a so-called neighborhood watch and he had shot a white kid claiming he looked suspicious his ass would be under the jail right now. Last time I checked a teenager is still a kid, since he is still being taken care of by his parents.

 

Blacks kill a lot more whites in the United States each year than the other way around and that has been true for decades.

But overall, interracial crimes are rare so why get bent out of shape either way.

the kid was from a rich NBA family so he belonged there and the security was quick to the trigger

 

So being from a rich family means that you are above the law? To hell with that! The kid obviously attacked Zimmerman, and Zimmerman defended his own life. It doesn't matter if he was from a "rich NBA family" or was just some basehead. Either way, the kid was wrong, he ran into the wrong person, and now he's dead. Personal accountability is definitely lost on some of you.
