*Breaking* I used to hangout in his Resteraunt & Sports Bar all the time ... sad. Police in Oceanside, Calif., say former NFL star Junior Seau has been found dead at his home. http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/47266262/ns/nfl/ Police Lt. Karen Laser confirmed the death Wednesday but released no other details. Police responded to a report of a shooting at 10 a.m. at Seau's home on the coast north of San Diego. Seau was a standout linebacker with the University of Southern California before going to the San Diego Chargers, whom he led to the Super Bowl following the 1994 season. He remained with the Chargers until 2003 and went on to play with the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots before retiring after the 2009 season.
what a shame. Just goes to show you that a lot of money can't buy you happiness. You have to live stress free and just enjoy every day.
*Update* 12:29 PM PDT ~ A rep for the Oceanside Police Department just spoke outside Seau's San Diego house, claiming Seau's body was initially discovered by Seau's girlfriend. http://www.tmz.com/2012/05/02/junior-seau-dead/ Authorities responded, and found Seau's unconscious body inside a bedroom, with a gunshot wound to the chest. Paramedics attempted to revive Seau, but life-saving efforts were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His body is still inside the house. The rep says investigators recovered a handgun on the scene. The case is being investigated as a suicide. Seau's mother also spoke briefly -- and she was hysterical, crying to God, "Take me. Leave my son alone!" Video Inside ~ *Too many demons to deal with ?*
What a shame...He was a great player, Hall of Famer even. Never had issues that I remember and just played the game. RIP.
Doesn't mesh very well with reports of suicide. Not saying it is not, but a majority of gun suicides are shooting oneself in the head, followed by mouth and rarely the chest. RIP Mr. Seau.
My sentiments exactly ... however, he drove his SUV off a cliff in Carlsbad, Ca. in 2010, hours after being released from jail following a domestic violence arrest regarding his his 25-year-old live-in girlfriend ...
Yo Bozos... we don't know for sure but... it might be something like what other players who committed suicide did in order to preserve their brains for study with regard to repeated blows to their heads and it leading to mental problems later in their years. In that case, the suicide victim shoots themselves in the heart in order to preserve their brains for future study as to how the repeated sports concussive blows to the head lead to later year mental problems akin to early onset dementia and associated depression. I wouldn't be suprised if the over achieving Junior Seau saw that his death could also overachieve in helping hundreds of others to get help or avoid what he was going through due to his football career impacts.
