Well, it's official. General Mills are all about supportin' the Same-Sex Marriage. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...sg=AFQjCNFggzMpQSAWlCzE_eRKuyCA_28Wew&cad=rja Oh my. That's a whole lot product to boycott to avoid supporting a company if one is say, opposed to us gay folks getting all legal married like. A short list of their products: Angel Food Cake Mixes Bac Os Products Betty Crocker Frosting Bisquick Bowl Appetit Breads Brownies Cookie Mix Cupcakes Decadent Supreme Cake Mix Desserts and Bars Fiber One Fruit Flavored Snacks Gluten Free Baking Mixes Hamburger Helper Products Helper Complete Meals Pancake Mixes Potatoes Quick Bread and Muffin Mixes Suddenly Salad SuperMoist Cake Mixes Sweet Rewards Bars Warm Delights And of course, Cheerios, Honey Nut Cheerios & Trix. Of course, if one were inclined to give up Cheerios, (I believe medically proven to help lower cholesterol) one does always have the option of heading over to Chik-fil-A for a nice heart healthy chicken biscuit breakfast.
Those militant religious folk shouldn't forget about Poctor and Gamble, who have the moon and star in their logo as a sign to all those satanists and pagans that they support "The Dark Side"
Oops! The list from the OP was just "Baking Products" from General Mills. They've got cereal, they've got yogurt, snacks, ice cream, soup, pasta, pizza....Goodness, they've taken over! (Guess that's how come it's a "General" Conquered everyone else doncha know!?) Pillsbury baked goods. Pillsbury! (But I mean come on! Who amongst us didn't look at the Pillsbury Dough Boy at one time in our life and think "he's a little light on his feet innit he?") Wonder how many folks are gonna stop buying their products......or at least will say there gonna stop buying their products.
even if they were against homsexual marriage, there is no way that any American will boycott cake mix.
As someone who isn't for same sex Marriage, I'll still buy their products. The opinions and causes of a company do not effect what I buy, as long as they dont affect any of the products I like. If they start putting GLAAD, NAMBLA or labels of the like on the products, then maybe I'd find another option. Other than that, who cares. Let them believe in their causes.
I think you and the OP are putting the beliefs and actions of your side out there as if it's normal to both sies. Boycotts and Militants is mostly a thing of the Left when they aren't getting their way. Chick Fil A was a great example, as was the fact noone from the right is picketing Starbucks.
Nooooo. I was mostly going with how I've seen people respond in the very recent past---like scores or people boycotting (or again, saying they'll boycott) JC Penney b/c they use Ellen DeGeneres as a spokesperson and had a lesbian couple w/kids in an ad for Mother's day + a gay couple w/kids for Father's Day. I read stuff all over websites about "this is the final straw. We'll never shop at JCP again!" So, you know, basing my OP on recent events.
Well some people take things a little too seriously I guess. As long as they arent violent or vandalizing, I have 0 issue with people supporting what they wish as long as they let others do the same in return.
Pretty much the same here. (one reason for my sig line). I don't much like or agree with the CEO of Chik-fil-A's stance, but since it's his company and not mine---he's allowed to believe whatever he likes. I don't believe cities should be allowed to keep his stores out & if my GI tract could stand it (& my budget), I'd still buy from 'em. I'm rather hoping people will show the same tolerance to General Mills, but I just don't know that will happen.
^+1 to this I'm actually going there twice a day right now because of their summer Treat Receipt promotion. Starbucks' stance on marriage makes no difference to my coffee habits.
Oh yes they will. Don't try and make it look like they are the only ones making cake mix. Its not as if they belong to Ubama. There are other brands of cake mix out there and some even make their own.
All of those, with the exception of the salad, have been on my "off" list for quite some time. And I can make salad on my own. All that refined white flour is hell on the girth and ciculatory system. Now that I know what they stand for, "cheating" on my diet will be all the harder. Thanks for that!
Idon't buy any of those things except for Betty Crocker pudding in the mix cake mix with which i make one kick ass Rum Cake suitable for heteros and homos.
I was both glad and sad to read this post. As previously stated, I'm not in fact, trying to assign the "lefts" reactions w/out basis to the "right". I'm basing it on very recent events involving JC Penny and the many posts I saw ('nother site) claiming JCP's "stance" on gay rights/equality would cause them to boycott JCP. However....I'm tickled that you sir, happen to be one of the people who seem to be willing to support a company you like, even while disagreeing with said companies politics. To me, those sort of actions help reinforce a sense of the reality of Freedom of Speech---even for/especially for companies. I'm fairly sure this is sincere. At any rate, you're welcome! Here to serve, happy to help!
I won't buy anything of General Mills given the position they have taken, and I think more of this should be done by those conservatives who feel impassioned about their values. It might end up being like Carbonite whose market share plunged when they dumped Rush...or the one company who apparently begged Rush to take them back in the fold, and he refused them. He is booming more than ever, and they took the stand...so be it, they can answer to their shareholders. As well, I will advise like minded individuals daily about General Mills and email etc to as many contacts as I have, with whatever supplied information I can find about what other company names General Mills goes under (so they don't still give them their monies), and possibly supply a listing of non General Mills alternatives.
Well if it helps, all I did was google "General Mills" products---and it took me to their website listing all the many, many items they sell. (I was kinda surprised it was so much) Good luck! tresh
I won't have to do too much leg work. My daughter is a born again christian, and I have already advised her and she will probably compile me a list of quality and price compared products to GMs stuff. She is not as adamant, nor as vigorously active in a participatory fashion as I am regarding these and other issues...however, she has her core value prinicples and will get a list for the old man...despite him being an atheist.
Interestingly (least to me that is) one of my sisters is a very fervent believer and was in fact a Missionary for 20+ years and she really has no problem buying their products. I think it's great that people can practice their beliefs in different, yet substantial to them, ways.
that is true, many other competitors for general mills products. corporations should have learned in the past, never to make partisan political statements. well they are people now according to the supreme court, we'll see how this goes.
Researching is what it is all about nowadays...but a little luck doesn't hurt. Thanks. Kendall Powell, is also deeply involved with Medtronic http://www.medtronic.com/ and Catalyst http://www.catalyst.org/page/89/catalyst-boards They have stockholders as well. Medtronic is all about selling healthcare universally across the globe. Interesting.
Oh I couldn't disagree more. Corporations are run by people, (except Mircrosoft I guess. We all know that's run by the debil) and any person is gonna have opinions. Letting their buying "public" know where they may or may not stand on social/political issues, to me is a pretty blatant 1st Amendment issue. What their customers do with this information gives the option to the buyer. To some people, it's important to know where their consumer dollar goes, insofar as what a corporation devotes it's time/energy/money too. I really can't see anything wrong with a more informed consumer. If it costs a business some money, well---they probably gain income at the same time from whichever "side" likes it's position best.
Sounds like OP is confused. Gays and gay rights zealots are the ones drawing lines in the sand and boycotting over the issue.
