Further independent confirmation that the BLS 7.8% unemployment rate announced last week may not be a fluke, Gallup's poll figures released today report an unemployment rate of 7.3%. This is another new record low since Gallup began tracking unemployment in Jan 2010. The fact that it is shooting distance of the 6% range is kind of amazing given the predictions of many conservatives. Bear in mind this rate is not seasonally adjusted like the BLS number is, but Gallup's polling showing a significant drop in the unemployment rate (compare to 8.5% a year and 8.2% two months ago) corroborates the drop we saw in the BLS figures. It is a sign that the labor market is continuing to improve, but it may be too late to help Obama. http://www.gallup.com/poll/125639/Gallup-Daily-Workforce.aspx
A +/- of 1% is extreme when looking at a rate that is measured in tenths of percentages. Just saying...
Gallup's figures are based on 30 days rolling averages of daily polls. So while the actual number on any given day might fluctate for that error, the average over 30 days much less so. And it is corroborated by the BLS data which showed a comparable result.
It's only false information if you disagree with the BLS. http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm
It only makes sense to people who will do anything to get this criminal elected, like through commonsense and their integrity out the window...it is especially evident in people who will make threads about this complete and utter BS!
I think you mean more like people who claim there's a massive conspiracy every time the data shows improvemetn in the economy.
According to Gallup and the phone callers, if you helped the old lady down the street fix her sink and she paid you for your one hour of work during the month, you were employed for the whole month.
Even 259,000 new jobs dropped the unemployment in Feb 2012 by just .1%. Now we are to believe 114,000 jobs dropped it .3+%. It takes a willful suspension of disbelief. The Obama Gestapo must have really gotten to Gallup.
And what of all this? If these numbers are true, then great, the unemployment rate has begun to drop slightly...and as noted "This is another new record low since Gallup began tracking unemployment in Jan 2010". So we should all be trumpeting obama for taking 4 years to get unemployment below 8%? Frankly, the record statement is pretty pathetic really. Trumpeting an abysmal rate because it's better than the even more abysmal rates we've had for the last 4 years...
this is awesome news. I'll be sure to be near my phone as I expect it to ring off of the hook with new sales orders in light of so many people now being employed again.
Actually, President Bush level was 4.2%. That was the level it was when he took office. We've never seen it since. It was 7.8% when he left, and skyrocketing. But we are moving in the right direction to get back towards that level. If we don't (*)(*)(*)(*) it up again in November.
At this rate, Gallup will have Unemployment at 3.2% by election day. The lying sacks of (*)(*)(*)(*) have no credibility. Neither does the Bureau of Lies and Statistics.
Of course. Anything that reports positive news on the economy must be lying sacks of (*)(*)(*)(*). Part of the massive left wing conspiracy. Rush said so, right?
I agree. We need the stalemate to continue, as we have seen the stalemate in Washington has resulted in a 2.9% reduction in unemployment. The stalemate has been much more effective than any stimulus.
