Cow cookies. It is a utility bill. Stop snivelling and pay it.

Bull feathers. Those who benefit at a higher rate from the use of the commons need to pay at a hjigher rate than those who benefit less.

There is no infinite resource, other than petty stupidity. There is no reason why the majority of us have to allow a shrinking minority of us to contrrol most of the resources available for our survival.

Great steaming piles of cow flops. It was designed to be increasingly liberal, with opportunities for all to better themselves. You are trying to set us on a road to oligarchy, and it is not in the best interest of humanity that we sit here and watch it happen.

Actually, they were all doing quite well until they bought into the crap that that old battle axe Thatcher sold them.

Our middle class was growing and raising up more of the lower working class before the Jelly-brain from California came along and convinced a bunch of snot-nosed punks that they would all be millionaires if government got out of their way.

Cut back subsidies to oil companies. They are among the few businesses making a profit now anyway.

None. Defense can be scaled back quite a bit.

Listen buddy, you don't (*)(*)(*)(*)ing define evil. You're moral view is completely warped by false ideology. Private ownership of land is moral and just. Anyone who doesn't think so is just a plain whacko.

No, but total control through taxation and regulation IS todays most prevalent form of socialism.

Control is the issue...traditional socialism/communism failed because with ownership, the government also assumed responsibility for failure and having done so, could not admit failure. Modern socialism achieves the same control without the messy business of responsibility. The business failes due to excess taxation or regulation and government points the finger at the evil corporation it destroyed through inept heavy handed government.

Some of us think it is morally wrong to continue running up trillions in debt and expect future taxpayers to pay for what our Government spends.

Taxes are proportionately the lowest they've been in 60 years.

No it's not...in Socialist states there are no taxes. Private property isn't allowed, or taxed.

True. The users of a language define its concepts, and dictionaries compile and clarify those definitions. I merely remind evil, lying sacks of $#!+ what those definitions are.
No, you cannot identify any false statement I have made, while I have identified many that you have made, and proved them false.
I have proved it cannot be, any more than slavery can, because like slavery, it forcibly removes people's rights to liberty without just compensation. You merely want, and demand, a legal privilege of removing others' rights without making just compensation, because you want to take others' rightful property by force, without earning it, but are not brave enough to do it without government's guns protecting you from your victims.
That is what slave owners said of the abolitionists. So you are in good -- and suitable -- company, and so am I.

The unproductive, parasitic rich take an order of magnitude more from society than the unproductive, parasitic poor, though there is an order of magnitude fewer of them.

    - - - Updated - - -

Where? I don't know of any society like that.

There is nothing moral or just about just 1% of the people owning 40% of the nation's wealth.

Yes, isn't it remarkable how those who are getting the most for the least are the quickest both to whine that they are not getting enough, and to accuse anyone who objects to their depredations of being "whiners."
Yep. That's "beneficiary pay," one of the two most fundamental and widely accepted principles of responsible taxation policy (the other is "ability to pay").
Well, there are also the greed of the privileged and the dishonesty of their lickspittles...
Good to see another voice of reason here.

As long as you support hereditary privileges such as inheritance and trust funds, you can't claim you believe in merit. If we have to do it on our own, so do the children of the rich. If their neglectful fathers hadn't tried to buy their love by placing them halfway to the finish line, the heirheads would be also-rans, if not in the glue factory. The fact that the rich are so convinced that they have the right to create unfair competition in the next generation proves that they themselves must have made their money through luck and cheating.

You wouldn't have to fear the poor if you hadn't created so many of them with your selfish predatory "oinkonomics."

Profit is a tax on the worker and consumer, so you have no right to complain about government going to extremes with its own kind of extortion.

About a year ago, the NYT (IIRC) had an interactive website where you could change the federal budget at quite a fine level of detail. I found it would be EASY to balance the budget by just eliminating tax favors for the rich, corporate subsidies and bailouts, the evil and insane War on Drugs, most spending on military hardware and overseas bases, etc. Didn't even have to touch the social safety net or taxes on the poor and middle class.

No guts to stand up to the predatory plutocratic parasites who directly run your life and are all over you every work day. Where do the rich get their money from? From us, just like the government does. But you might wake up and disturb the Master if you ever equated the two forms of power over you. It's other people's money that the Capitaliban waste in their degenerate lifestyle and desperately need after they've looted the country of all its wealth and spirit. The plutocracy is the vulture and everyone else is road kill.

Even more, you can't claim you believe in merit as long as you support rent collection privileges such as land titles, intellectual property monopolies, and the banksters' privilege of creating government-backed debt money in order to charge interest on it. Such privileges legally entitle their owners to profit from the uncompensated violation of others' rights, without making any commensurate contribution to production.
No. Almost always, it was through privilege -- legal entitlements to profit by the uncompensated, forcible violation of other's rights -- and that is why they hold onto privilege, and demand their children be similarly privileged, like grim death.

It has been estimated that 80% of all substantial accumulations of wealth have been obtained by pocketing publicly created increases in the value of locations and other natural resources such as broadcast spectrum and mineral (including oil) deposits. Almost all the rest were obtained by bankster privilege and IP monopoly privilege. It is virtually unknown for a substantial accumulation of wealth to be obtained by commensurate contributions to wealth production (i.e., by merit).
It's not the poor the soulless, amoral greed robots fear. It's justice.
No, profit is merely an accounting entity -- revenue less expenses -- and might or might not be earned by commensurate contributions to production. It is rather economic rent -- returns obtained through control of others' access to economic opportunity, and not by any commensurate contribution to production -- that is effectively a tax on producers and consumers.
If government simply charged the market price for the privileges it issues, enforces, and makes valuable, rather than giving them away as a welfare subsidy to the privileged, it would not need to resort to extortion -- and could be drastically reduced in size as the social and economic pathologies it creates through privilege and extortion no longer required costly treatment at taxpayer expense.

I have, and I've never heard any such thing from any of them. Only a handful of communist loonies (most of them not poor) hold the beliefs you falsely and dishonestly attribute to the unemployed poor. They don't want charity, and they certainly don't want to steal. They want justice. You just don't want justice, because you like to profit from injustice. Simple.

"Justice" being defined as removing money from someone else and giving it to them....
