My apologies if this has already been posted and I overlooked it. Here is an incident where a man claims that a group of teens cut him off on the highway. He followed the kids, and a confrontation/fight ensued, resulting in the man firing into an unoccupied automobile. I'd like to get your thoughts on the entire incident. Was he in the right, or wrong, to have pursued the teens? I believe he was in the wrong to have approached their auto, even more wrong to have thrown a punch, and should be criminally charged for brandishing and firing a handgun after getting his butt kicked. Below is a link to the story, video of incident... http://www.newbernsj.com/news/cops-courts-and-calamity/la-grange-couple-faces-charges-in-alleged-road-rage-incident-1.117059

If the kids had a gun, they could have shot him the minute he threw a punch when they were in their vehicle.
This couple deserve some time in jail. The situation could have been avoided but ego for some is hard to swallow.
I hear the gunshot but its hard to tell when he actually fires it.. The noise seems to come before he even pulls the gun from his waistline. Anyone else seeing this?
I agree TF. I understand that the fellow may have been aggravated about being cut-off on the street, but it was absurd to escalate it to this point. The fellow was way out of line in my personal opinion, and deserves to pay the price for his stupidity and reckless behavior. I'm just glad one of the teens was not killed by this dumbass.
I agree with the op. You can't take the law into your own hands like they(second vehicle) did. Then they threw the first punch and followed it with a gun. They are screwed. That's not to say that the teens in the truck didn't do something wrong by driving improperly earlier. But heck, you don't stop them and punch them and then pull a gun if they fight back. They had a right to fight back. It's just good that no-one was killed.
I noticed it as well. It's almost as if it was misfired as he was attempting to brandish it, perhaps caused by adrenaline rush. What the video does not show, for obvious reasons (kids ran), was him firing more shots into their truck. The second link I posted alluded to it. Also, this freak left and came back! ...just couldn't accept that ass kickin' gracefully. *grin*
I thought of that too. I suppose it will ultimately be determined by what charge he may be convicted of. Regardless of that, this is an example of someone that should not be allowed to carry a weapon. Before anyone chimes in and bashes me for that statement... I do support the right to carry. ...but this guy crossed the line.
There seems to be conflicting articles as to whether he fired into an 'occupied' vehicle vs 'unoccupied'. Therein is the rub. Doing a little reading on N.C. law concerning the issue, seems to be just as confusing. If it's considered a misdemeanor, he will not lose his privilege to carry. ...although I personally think he should. **interestingly, firing a weapon into a building in N.C. is a felony, but doing so while actually inside, is only a misdemeanor. Needless to say, I am surprised by this.** http://mikeb302000.blogspot.com/2013/03/in-north-carolina-shooting-inside.html
Well he acted stupidly and illegally. I would hope this would be a felony that denies him a CCW permit. Without the video he might just get away with it though depending on whose story the cops might believe. Of course the fact he came back a second time is illegal and would throw their/his story under the bus. He should have waited in the street and called the cops if he was that upset by the teens driving.
t Good grief! You'd never know they were talking about the same incident! No mention at all of Turner approaching the truck and punching the driver BEFORE they "beat him"!
People need to calm the (*)(*)(*)(*) down on the road . Driving your car up my ass doesn't get us anywhere faster. .. Same goes for people who like to get in front of people and go 20 under .
If the story is that he escalated the incident he is going to get some time, Throwing the first punch automatically gets him in a bad spot, getting beat and reaching for his gun, is another stupid move. Comeing back made it worst. He should not be allowed to carry. This wont be good for him and if he has a CCW, (which in Tx, You can legally carry in your vehicle without needing a license) unless he has a law like ours, that will get him more trouble and makes legal gun owners look bad. Sidenote: Anyone rides my bumper on my truck i purposly go slower. I do the speed limit until this happens then cruise next to the car doing 50 on the expressway.
The ones who drive me crazy are those who speed up to get around and in front of you and then slow down.
Sorry to bump this guys, but I see the video of the incident (posted in first post), is no longer available. Maybe someone else might like to view it, so, here it is again. Hopefully this one will remain...
The wife should have put one round each in thier heads while they were beating on her husband. That would have been legal and prudent. Him grabbing the gun after the beating, means he was looking to escalate the situation.
Much like Zimmerman, the gunman was the one who constantly escalated the encounter. Also note, the gunman, has an actual black eye.
LOL! She should've put one in her husband's head - he's the one who struck the first blow and started the whole thing! I don't know about legal but it sure would've been "prudent". Can you claim SYG or self-defense if you're the instigator of the fight and then use a weapon because you're getting the (*)(*)(*)(*) beat out of you and realize you bit off more than you could chew? I would think those claims would belong to the driver of the truck that he attacked.
