Ah! People who claim the US to be the freest in the world can no longer name their children whatever name they choose. Will another judge decide which diapers must be purchased? And baby food? Whatever's next? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-judge-orders-parents-change-sons-Martin.html
Jesus is just the Greek word for Joshua. Is this idiotic Christian judge going to ban people from naming kids Joshua ? There is not a more simple minded, knuckle dragger on this planet than a right wing Christian.
I guess you didn't notice that this case has been appealed. And yes, the speech codes in your country are idiotic.
Oh! That's all right then. Mind you, it's not to be unexpected in the country that appoints judges on the whims of political non entities. I have no argument with your final sentence.
What's "my side", sport? I don't side with either of the irrational, simple-minded people we've been talking about. If you ask me, our country would be better off without both of them. Whaddya say we send the Bible thumpers off to the Holy Land and make the progs swim to Cuba?
Wow. We need a way to get rid of judges. I can't think of a way that wouldn't be abused but ... I mean come on.
No reasonable person with common sense could deny that that name would be likely to hurt the child's chances for a happy life. Sounds like you were going for the conservative two-bagger of taking a shot at minorities and gleefully inflicting pain.
I have actually had a student whose first name was "Teddybear" That wasn't his nickname either - his parents ACTUALLY named him Teddybear. Later, we had a kid whose first name was "Master" - and he had a brother named "President". Where were these judges when we needed them?
That does seem to violate the whole "seperation of church and state" principal. What's next, Jesus is no longer a valid name?
I wonder what the judge meant exactly. Does she not think that Jesus was born the messiah (TM)? Does she mean that only after he had done some good stuff on earth that he then graduated from son of god to messiah (TM)? Or maybe there's a whole untold story of Jesus before his birth where he did things to earn his messiah (TM) status from birth. I wonder how she feels about boys who are Godsons? What about people with the surname Godson? They could all be in trouble if they all have to change their name to McCulloch or Goddistantrelative.
