As a conservative I think getting kids to eat healthy is a good cause for our first lady. Now if she tried to use the government to control what we consume, like Mayor Bloomberg, or tried to create a new government bureacracy to promote her cause then I would turn on her. But until then I consider her choice for a first-lady cause to be both benevolent and worthy.
"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported this month that the obesity rate dropped among younger, poor children in 19 states and territories between 2008 and 2011. The rate remained the same in 19 other states and in the District and Puerto Rico. Only three states saw increases." http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/obesity-rates-fall-but-the-war-is-far-from-over/2013/08/19/137f68dc-03c7-11e3-a07f-49ddc7417125_story.html Something might be working.
I really don't think there's any comparison b/t kids who already know how to read, but just don't read a lot to kids who are fed or choose themselves unhealthy foods that will effect then for the rest of their lives if they're not taught the difference b/t healthy & unhealthy foods...... I wasn't paying much attention to Nancy Reagan, but heard her say "Just say no" to drugs. If she tried to educate the kids more about drugs, then good for her, but never heard about of it. Her "Just say no" didn't cut it anymore than 'eat your veggies' does. I hope NR gave the kids more of an education about drug use than that..... Which is what these kids need about food, particularly their parents who choose their meals........ The majority of parents don't know about Monsanto/GMO foods, but MO sure does.......
Yeah, photo shopping an image that has nothing to do with eating healthy is your idea of truth on the subject. God, despicable.
Yeah that would be the message if she was brining in gangstas to sing about broccoli. But it appears MO is using popsters that appeal to pre-teen girls.
I was making fun of the idea of the rappers being involved as stated in the thread. God, dumb. Name one way in which that image was Photoshopped. I'm sort of an expert on that. Just one. C'mon...
Are you trying to say that you DID NOT grab a three year old photo that had nothing to do with Michelle's campaign? I do not know the proper terms, maybe, because I am NOT an expert. What do you call taking generic photos such as a family portrait, baby smiling, cute cat, or showing black kids doing something to use in your post for another reason.
No. What thin air did you pull that out of ? "Making a point" ? "Making a joke" ? Not sure... but that's definitely not called "Photoshopping".
Let's see. The topic of the thread is "MO makes an album encouraging kids to eat healthy" so just perhaps when I make the statement "of all the things to (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) about, this one seems silly" I was talking about the subject of the thread I posted in? DUH
Ok, MO is occasionally on the Food Network...... good for her. If you think MO has 'zero input' into any government agency, then you're really living in the land of unicorns and rainbows..... And btw, where did I say I 'blamed' MO for the EBT cards to be used at fast food joints? Have you given any tho't to the fact that she's taken on this project of fighting childhood obesity, encouraging kids to eat healthy - then the government turns around and allows EBT cards to be used at McD, BK, etc? Doesn't that tell you something? That's kind of sabatoging all of her work in hoping to get kids slim and healthy, doncha think? So much for her 'sincerity' in getting kids to eat healthier... No, what's pathetic is that just b/c some of us don't like the Obamas, then we must 'hate' them..... grow up. You can dislike someone, but not hate them......
Whether you merely dislike Obama or you hate him is of no consequence. Only a MORON attacks an agenda solely because of the person who's agenda it is. I 100% believe that you hate the idea of making an album encouraging kids to eat healthy SOLELY because of who is making it. Go ahead and deny it, but your own words have betrayed you. It's sick and possibly pathological. PS - I can guarantee you that at no point did ANYONE ask MO's opinion on whether EBT cards should be accepted at McDonalds and Taco Bell.
It is obvious that you and Really People? are not interested in this issue. What i see as silly is for you both to continue to post on it. Some of us are concerned about obesity among the young and whether MO is doing a good job or not. Some posters use ridiculous statements and pictures to argue against MO. I have responded to those false claims. Please get off this "silly" thread.
What the (*)(*)(*)(*) are you talking about? I've been addressing the poster that started the thread a majority of the time... And if not Ctrl, then it was other posters who had an irrational dislike of this particular idea... Perhaps you should (*)(*)(*)(*)in pay attention before you open your mouth...
Look mini mod if you think RP and I are off topic, report us. short of that shut the (*)(*)(*)(*) up and stay on topic yourself. As for the topic itself, I reiterate that objecting to this album simply because you dislike the person who created it is STUPID.
you wanna know a good way to lose credibility and not be taken serious again? By posting a photo shopped picture and trying to say it was real. http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/photos/derrieres.asp you're better than that.
"Online political forum cred" ? lol.... I can't even pretend to care. I didn't say it was real... feel free to point out where I did. No? Can't? The photo is only manipulated by adding MO.... which is very obvious by the artifacts left behind, like the halo around her body, and the fact that she's a lot taller than the others (in real life).... and has nothing to do with the point. The point was her immense girth... which is very, very real. The pic I found was just the one I chose to post. The one referring to her mission to teach kids how not to be fat. Not really. Nor will I try to be.
You were confused that the guy who posted a meme was looking for actual discussion ?! Dude, you're wasting your own time. ffs...
Yeah, promoting proper health via a rap album. What kind of selfish, inconsiderate jerk ass would try to increase awareness?
