http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.co...to-break-shutdown-but-not-the-will/?hpt=hp_t2 "The truth of the matter is, there are enough Republican and Democratic votes in the House of Representatives right now to end this shutdown immediately with no partisan strings attached," Obama said. But this does not mean a vote will happen any time soon, given that these Republicans have not indicated a willingness to try to force Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, to bring a continuing resolution with no strings attached to the floor for a vote. After a meeting with Republicans on Tuesday, Republican Rep. Tom Cole of Oklahoma told CNN that the speaker told members there would not be a House vote on a "clean" government funding bill. There is no longer any doubt this shutdown resides solely with Republicans, and now a minority of House Reps. Clearly they are imposing their ideology on the rest of the nation, no matter what the costs. This shameless posturing is off the grid. It is time for Republicans to grow a spine, act like adults and proceed.
Hilarious - 19 Republicans are now considered a majority of House Republicans. Talk about shameless posturing! Obama & Co. imposed their ideology on the nation, no matter the costs, when it rammed ObamaCare down the country's throat. Now, the Republicans have grown a spine and are standing up for the 57% of Americans who oppose that law, and the petulant children on the Left who can't handle adults standing up to their temper tantrum are demanding their own way again. Sorry, but part of being an adult is knowing when to tell the children NO. When Democrats are ready to grow up, Republicans are prepared to discuss when they'll take the spoiled little brats on the Left out of timeout.
I think there are enough votes in the senate to vote in the last proposal by the house, pushing the individual mandate back to the same required date as the corporate mandate. Seems a fair ask, in the benefit of the people. Why don't you ask Ried for an "up or down vote" on that?
Progressives don't seem to have a problem with the 40 jobs bills that the House proposed that have not been put up for a vote by Harry Reid in the Senate.
No negotiating with these clowns. Obama has compromised enough of our government. Let them take a beating. The majority of Americans realize who is at fault here.
How is that Obamacare rollout going? They going to push back the enrolment requirement date? More than a week... still not functioning.
Obama caused this mess so let it go down in history as his legacy and let the dems suffer because of it.
I do not need to deal with the site... I was just asking how it is going. Why don't you answer questions?
Because I have never been to the site nor do I care about software glitches in the first couple days. It will be fine.
Sorry pal, but enough Republicans have publically stated that they will vote for a clean Continuing Resolution to pass the bill. That's what a majority is. Not just a majority of Republcians only. If Boehner waits much longer, the margin for the CR will grow much wider.
You're quoting OBAMA AS PROOF? I have to go now...laughing too hard, can't seee screen, tears in eyes...Obama says.... Too much, my heart!
Obama hasn't compromised anything, and I've got some bad news for ya kid - a poll just came out that indicated that 80% of Americans aren't feeling any effects from the shutdown. Looks like your neo-socialist messiah ain't holding (*)(*)(*)(*) in his hand. It's kinda hard to inflict and exploit pain that no one is feeling.
So 1 out of 5 people are feeling effects? Lmao! And you are happy about that? Can't write better comedy than this.
So? Laws are constantly changed to reflect the times and attitudes of its people. Remember that the next time someone argues that we need new immigration laws despite the fact that we have all the immigration laws we need.
I wouldn't believe a word that comes out of Obama's mouth if his tongue came notarized. I thought you'd like Boehner, he's now doing exactly what Harry Reid's been doing since the Republicans took the house. Maybe if Harry and the Senate would have passed a budget from 2010 till 2013 we wouldn't be arguing over continuing resolutions. That's how the Democrats have added almost $7 trillion dollars to the national debt in less than 5 years. "70 percent of Americans oppose raising the debt ceiling", Democrats can go against those wishes at their own peril come the 2014 mid-term.
Over 40,000 signed up in NY alone, coverage doesn't start til January, so there's plenty of time. You may not believe this, but people do want health care coverage.
Not if you believe... Americans... not this program... not now. It isn't free you know... you know that right? The people forced into signing up could have done so on their own. They didn't need a law forcing them to. Where are you getting these numbers from? Certainly not the White House. Have till January to redesign the portal...
Most don't work and will get subsidy's for most or all of it while those of us who are working stiffs, low middle class will foot the bill...no thanks!!!
Here you go. http://www.wgrz.com/news/article/228688/13/40000-NYers-Have-Signed-up-For-Health-Exchanges People know it's not free. A lot of people didn't even have the option to get insurance before the exchanges. The mandate is required to keep enrollment up and premiums down. People tend to only disapprove of Obamacare when it's called Obamacare. When you ask them about the actual content of the Affordable Care Act they tend to agree
When juxtaposed, I am sure people say they like it because they assume it is an alternate plan, or the existing framework as they cannot or are embarrassed to ask what it is. You are correct that people who did not have a viable option before, with pre-existing conditions will be on top of the list to sign up... and I expect their great savings will be heralded as success. Should be noted that 28,000 of them were done over the phone.
So there's 40,000 less uninsured in NY after a couple of days, and the only thing you can say is that they must not work. But in the US most of the uninsured do work, those that don't work are on Medicaid. These are 40,000 people who signed up and have to pay something. Before they just used the emergency room, and someone else paid for it.
