So...can we now call it the Costly Affordable Care Act? I like it - CACA. Sums it up nicely, dontcha think?

Here's Avik Roy on the latest HHS memo:

There it is, folks. The crap they're mandating (is there still a mandate?) can be more expensive than the plan that was canceled out from under you. A million freeeeekin anecdotes can't all be wrong, eh?

If you like your cheaper old plan, you can, er, shove it. PERIOD.

Millions of people will be getting a "hardship exemption" from Obamacare because it is simply too expensive. The ACA is doing the very opposite of what was promised, but the liberals still tell us we need it.

Any of you liberals who have, for years now, told us that Obamacare would not be making coverage more expensive have anything to say?

I won't even bother to ask you to explain how 6 million people are getting their insurance canceled after you have spent the last several years telling us that wouldn't happen either.

I see the article mentions that even the "catastrophic" plans are unaffordable. The catastrophic plans really are junk. Just look at the benefit structure. The liberals are big on calling non-ACA plans junk but the catastrophic plans don't even cover a single doctor office visit or prescription until you have paid over six thousand dollars out of your own pocket. Any of you liberals who keep chanting that non-ACA plans are junk have anything to say now that we can see the junk level catastrophic Obamacare plans are unaffordable to many of those people who had been promised by the Democrats that they would not lose their plans?

Obamacare is a in a death spiral , every day now Obama has to tweak it using his unilateral power to override the very law that has his name on it. Insurance and healthcare companies are in a turmoil because Obama's ineptitude as a leader has gotten him into a quagmire. Someone should tell him that the best thing to do when you find yourself in quicksand to stop flailing madly and accept help. Instead he lies and plays politics with the nations health care system

Republicans have proposed many solutions to control health care costs and improve quality

Ironically, the CMMS report opens with:

No doubt, these words will console the millions of consumers who lost the HC plans they like and were promised they could keep on account of FullRetardCare's new "protections".

The cheaper plans were exploitative junk - the people who bought them were not providing themselves coverage but didnt care because they knew they could front the difference to the tax payer. It's about time these junk plans were made null.

I say just change it from the ACA to the UCA; the Unaffordable Care Act.

It's republicans who gutted the public option making way for this lack of a viable option

This quote is presented so far out of context and its real meaning that it is simply ridiculous.

Well,it is quit certain that the people paying $60/month for a total of $2,000 MAXIMUM annual coverage would INDEED find the offer of a $64/month Obamacare policy (with TOTAL coverage) "more expensive".

However. whatever the complaint people have had about Obamacare, thsi memo is simply setting up the option for people to buy the "catastrophic" policies, or whatever, and they don't have to buy ot from exchanges, either, which is what the memo is actually talking about!.

So here is the "Freedom" the Righties wanted, and its nothing but another bit of grist for the billionaires propaganda mill.

I am publishing the memo in its entirety, so if anyone cares about reality, they can read the whole thing!

Good job, RR! You earned your gold start for the day from the Koch Bros!

I wonder if someday I will know what's right for everyone else all the time.

    Nope.

    That is a lie.

It was the insurance companies who gutted the public option.

Please, if you're going to lie, at least make it plausible.

Liz Fowler (VP, WellPoint) wrote the ObamaCare bill.

The GOP had no say whatsoever.

Again......I feel like my country is being run by kindergarteners...........this is the biggest legislative fiasco in the history of the republic. ObummerCare only made my small company's health insurance premiums go up $10,000 for next year......after hearing so many horror stories I guess we are lucky.......pajama boy makes it all better.......I mean seriously people.

In order to have those extraordinary powers I think you have to become an arrogant 'progressive' with no real world experience.......so I think you are out of luck.

Isn't it hilarious that the FullRetardCare-compliant plans are more expensive than the exiting plans that people like and were told they could keep?

    GUFFAW!!

Everyone knows that middle-class working schmucks have unlimited amounts of money to spend and they can afford to spend hundreds of dollars more a month to finance Obama & Co.'s neo-socialist redistribution schemes.

    HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!

Indeed. It used to be that catastrophic plans were a good option, because even though the deductible was high, the premium was correspondingly low, low enough to be affordable. And that is the essence of insurance anyway; to pay for what you can afford to pay out-of-pocket; but still be covered for the unforeseen big ticket expense.

But I couldn't help but notice that not only did ObamaCare force the catastrophic plan deductibles higher, it substantially raised their premiums as well. Who in their right mind would want to pay high premiums for a plan that doesn't cover anything?

Yeah right. A young healthy person doesn't need anything more than catastrophic coverage.

It was a very unholy alliance between Democrats and the insurance companies. The two entities least able to come up anything that would benefit the healthcare consumer.

Can you quit with this (*)(*)(*)(*)ing lie please? Not a single republican voted for the ACA. They had no power to gut anything or we wouldn't be in this mess.

Not to the 83% who liked them, the new ones are the junk.

ROFL who was I fronting the cost of mine to the taxpayer?

Who made you the judge and jury for the 83%? Hey I think your car is junk and now you MUST buy a $200,000 Porsche, about time these junk cars were made null and void.

So what are all of a sudden these junk policies going to save millions due to Obamacare's failure?
