I have no problem with the post office or infrastructure. You are thinking anarchist. Get to the part where they say take one mans labor by force if necessary and give it to another person who will be dependent on our power and lavish lifestyle for their basic subsistence. Slavery was a more profitable economic slavery then feudalism and your socialism is even more efficient and far less cruel then slavery. But the point is the same. Dependency, force, unearned wealth.

As far as the racial stuff. Name a year the left has believed in more racial equality under the law then the right. Don't dodge.

There you go. Slavery fits in perfect with the left.

Speaking of "No, it has to do with taking someone's labor for yourself by government"

Lincoln proposed to liberate slaves by using tax dollars to compensate(pay) slave owners.

Of course in the end, slaves- viewed as property by the Confederacy- were liberated without any payment.

No. The democrats of 2013 believe in racial discrimination. Just like the democrats of 1863. They just are t allowed to enslave or use violence against them anymore. Because of republicans. You don't get to change your history because it is bad. Nearly all bad things have been done under leftist ideology.

Once again- what does that have to do with your post about 'violent lefties'?

What 'violent lefties in a civil war' are you speaking of?

    Who were you speaking of?

    - - - Updated - - -

    Of course we don't.

    Just right wing idiocy.

Yes, they reflected the nascent socialist movement of the 1890's and early 1900's. At that time, socialism was the next evolution of government and was very popular among the "enlightened" and educated, not surprising since they saw themselves as the obvious choices for the ruling class. Just as the post-WW1 German politicians incorporated convenient aspects of socialism to form the National Socialist German Workers' Party, the American "enlightened" created a strain of socialism ("progressivism") tailored to the then current tolerance of the American people and politicians ambitions.

Teddy and the rest of "enlightened" did not think badly of socialism since they were before WW2, the USSR, Red China, etc. showed us the horrible evil of socialist philosophy.

TR and the "progressives" believed that the federal government should be used to direct nations and people. They strongly opposed states rights and a strict interpretation of the Constitution that would limit their ability to use the federal government against what they perceived as "social evil".

TR is responsible for some critical groundwork in the destruction of our democracy such as the election of Senators by direct popular vote (destroying a strong check & balance of states over federal power).

With that I leave you to spew hate against everyone who doesn't agree with you- aka 'socialists/communists' etc for the night.

    Happy 2014 everyone.

And the Proclamation did not free a single slave, it only applied to slaves in rebel held territory that had not yet been taken back by the Union.

    Yup !

And "We", :flagus: have paid dearly for this poorly thought out plan, ever since.

    Emancipation YES !
But with African repatriation ! It is never too late.
The way it was managed was as effectual as Reagan's Amnesty without closing the leaky borders,
    Amnesty YES !
    And secure the borders.
Just a matter of follow through planning

    Moi :oldman:

    No :flagcanada:

Slave holders were leftist. Control of another's labor is patently leftist. Commies killed to force people to work for them, socialists live their violent riots. You don't see the tea party doing it. You project the lefts violence on them, or the media does, but when stores are getting smashed you better believe they are all democrat voters and the probably think they aren't left enough.

AA doesn't treat people differently based on race? It doesn't discriminate?

You are mixing different definitions of "progressive".

If you mean ending slavery was progressive because it was advocating/implementing a social reform, then you are correct. But that has no association with the more modern political movement of "progressivism".

What you are trying to do is associate a major positive social reform with the modern political movement of "progressivism" which did not exist in the 1860's. And by similar token smear the modern conservative movement by again mixing literal and historical word definitions. Thats tranparent and dishonest. But typical for a prog.

Hmm..., So you think that we shouldn't celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day either? Perhaps maybe forgetting to celebrate the 4th of July?

I'm not sayin we don't need to celebrate holidays. I'm saying government officials shouldn't have to say something about them.

As opposed to the democrat party that still passes race based legislation and has put people on the new plantation of welfare.

Is that why the Democrats have created their own plantation slaves today with Welfare checks and Obama phones?

What a contradiction. Let me boil it down to the basics. "And the Proclamation did not free a single slave, it only applied to slaves."

I guess you are right, it did not free a single slave, it freed all of them.

Gee, I always thought that the Emancipation Proclamation freeing all slaves was a important historical part of Americana.

As we reconquered areas of the south that had been in rebellion, the proclamation did hold as an order under the authority of the President as Commander in Chief and his war making powers. It was legal and Constitutional It had no authority in Maryland, Delaware, West VA, parts of KY and Missouri which had stayed in the Union. For that it took the 13th Amendment.

When the war ended and martial powers ended it may have lost a constitutional challenge. You have to remember the Supreme Court was democrat pro slavery. That is why they shot down the civil rights act of 1868.

Who pushed the civil rights act of 1957? Who sent in troops to force desegregation?

Not accurate by the way. By 1960 the vote was split. Blacks voted for democrats even in the south because of FDR.

Is it a picture of the KKK bombing the RNC?

Far left anti free traders rioting and planning bombings again - at the RNC?

Democrat Bull Connor sending dogs on black Americans?

    Democrat LAPD beating Rodney King?

Democrat Detroit racked up another bad weekend because they can't bother to secure those neighborhoods for its residents?

Is it a picture of unions beating blacks and keeping them out?

Is it a picture of union strong flint michigan the murder capital of the USA with its highest level of unemployment and poverty?

Focusing on "social justice " means you lose focuse on muggings and murder. I have data.
