Just take more of their money. Great solution. It's a myth that the rich aren't paying anything. The myth was probably started by jealous poor people or politicians catering to poor people for their vote. The rich pay a much higher rate. The top 10 percent of taxpayers paid over 70% of the total amount collected in federal income taxes in 2010, the latest year figures are available, according to the Tax Foundation. That's up from 55% in 1986. The remaining 90% bore just under 30% of the tax burden, this would include your middle class. And 47% of all Americans pay hardly anything at all. Ever heard of the reverse Income Tax?
Myth? Jealousy? You're talking in magical terms, not facts. This 70% number is due to the fact they ALSO have 50% of the entire wealth of the nation. And this 47% number is further proof you're talking in magical terms, Mr. Romney. As well, you're mistaking the tax rate vs. effective tax rate. There's a difference. The taxes on the wealthy businesses and business owners is somewhere in the 50-60% range. However, it's widely known that their effective tax rate is closer to what Mitt Romney paid, which was 13% if I recall and it was even noted, he over-paid because he missed some loophole that would allow his effective tax rate to be lower. And yes, reverse income tax is going to some of the richest businesses in our country. They don't need it at all. It's why it's called 'corporate welfare'.
The North has plenty of black people so stop using that as an excuse for all of your problems. The largest black populations are in New York, Chicago, and Detroit.
Billionaires DON'T leave. that is a freaking myth. They won't go anywhere. The wealthy will not raise their children in a third world country because of lower taxes. At the end of the day, the US military provides the security that allows them to stay here. That will always be more important than money. You are kidding yourself if you think billionaires will flee America and permanently reside somewhere else to avoid taxes.
Your post shows how little you know. Read this http://usconservatives.about.com/od...xes-For-The-Rich-Ultimately-Hurt-The-Poor.htm Also it's not just about taxing your citizens, you must also attract wealthy men to invest.
Never heard of reverse Income Tax going to a business (I have owned three businesses). I have heard of companies not paying any tax. The facts I stated are solid. We can throw numbers around all day but with the government taking in over 2 trillion dollars from income taxes and the top 10% paying 70% of those taxes that means they pay over a trillion dollars to the government and that only leaves millions for the middle class to pay. Trillion vs million -- got it. 10% pays over a trillion and 90% pays millions and you want the 10% to pay more? Why? Seems to me they are already paying much more than their "fair" share. Too many people will never be happy until the government takes everything from the wealthy so as to reduce them to being poor. It's jealous people who desire revenge because they were not savvy or hard working enough to achieve wealth.
The government should be bending over backwards to attract the upper classes, they create jobs and give much needed investment.
The inverse of that argument is that they should treat everyone equal and give everyone equal opportunity to become a job creator instead of giving special treatment to those that already are, which doesn't guarantee opportunity to become job creator. And don't be mislead...a rich person doesn't create jobs. A boy born into wealth isn't going to automatically open a business. He may choose to live off his wealth alone for his entire life. That doesn't create a single job.
I hate the stereotype that the wealthy just live off of family money, it's like assuming a black man is a thief. Wealthy men want their children to become richer, not live off of them. Upper class children receive the best education and a open door into the business world. Upper class children are a much more likely to be a bigger contribution than lower class children. We must do our best to attract the upper classes and look after the upper classes.
*yawn* (*)(*)(*)(*), why stop there? Let's go ahead and go back to having royalty. Let's go back to Victorian style society.
Some rich people want more, so they invest in new businesses and thereby create jobs. Some don't, but one thing is true: I've never seen a poor person create a single job.
We have royalty... You fail to stand, by helping the upper classes you are in turn helping the lower classes. Read this http://usconservatives.about.com/od...xes-For-The-Rich-Ultimately-Hurt-The-Poor.htm - - - Updated - - - I agree with your first statement but the second is wrong, look at Sir Alan Sugar.
I apologize for failing to see your nationality. In America we don't have royalty but the push to treat the wealthy as first class citizens and everyone else as beneath them both in status and legally would lead to essentially having royalty without specifically stating such things. It's not a lack of respect for the wealthy I'm promoting. It's equality of treatment of all citizens and right now, the wealthy elite are pushing for things that essentially put them above the law that everyone else must abide by, which is, in a sense, asking for royal status. They aren't legally entitled to that just like a poor person isn't legally entitled to being treated like (*)(*)(*)(*). They just are.
I do follow the money. They pay off politicians to siphon more out of the economy and promote monopolistic market practices and gain tax havens that would otherwise not be available to anyone else except the mega rich. That's not creating jobs. That's hoarding and anal retentive behavior on borderline addiction.
Are you suggesting this person created jobs when he was a poor person? Love to see that, I may have to adjust my thinking. Please provide a link.
What do the politicians do with the money, put it under their mattress? Can you name one monopoly in the U.S. -- other than the government, who you want to take people's money. The poor don't need tax havens because they don't pay any income tax. You sound like a jealous psychiatrist who is poor
AmCits who has foreign assets worth more than $10K have to comply with IRS FBAR or face a stiff penalty. All gains from offshore assets must be reported and taxable. To think uncle Sam is giving the rich a free pass is simply uninformed.
I agree everyone should be equal in the eyes of the law and ignoring a few exceptions that is the case. What I'm trying to say is that by helping the richest you are also helping the poorest!
Wealthy tax flight has been proven a myth in countless studies AND in practice. Millionaires haven't fled France yet. They haven't fled Britain. They haven't fled the United States. They haven't fled New York City, California, Maryland, and New Jersey after ALL have instituted millionaire taxes. Give me a better source than "usconservatives.com." Hell, I even have a thread that debunks this.
When they leave they don't call to let you know. One who said taxes are the reason he left NYC for Florida is Rush Limbaugh. Another who said he is leaving due to high taxes is Sean Hannity.
Very true but I feel everyone is missing the fact that we must also attract investors to our countries.
