Name one well-known scientist that is actually like Shedon Cooper and prove it with a true anecdote. I don't know any well-known scientists personally but I have read a lot of bios of them amd I've never yet heard of one who is actually like that character. Sheldon Cooper is a mythological stereotype, not a real person. Then again I do know of one guy who claims to be probably the only ninja Navy seal who is also a contender for several Nobel prizes, and, come to think, I often believe him to be playing a part
I would have to disagree there. I think the problem exists within the definition of alive or life. A virus certainly seems to be alive imo. Interesting.
I did not even know who or what Sheldon Cooper was until a short time ago. My reference describing some of my very smart friends is that their minds operate in a Left Brain Hemisphere manner. They often get so wrapped up in their calculations that they tend to not see obvious associations that could help them that are right in front of their face. I WAS NOT....trying to state my friends put on superhero outfits or have no ability to get a date....although a few of them REALLY need to get laid! LOL!!! AboveAlpha
Well...you and anyone can disagree but a Virus does not fit into the definition of a Life Form. A Virus has DNA and Viruses existed before LIFE did on Earth. And the ancient Viral DNA Encoding of which one of a huge number...that one Viral DNA encoding exists within the Genomes of all Life Forms on Earth. ONLY ONE Viral DNA encoding exists within the genomes of all life and this is 100% PROOF POSITIVE that all Life Evolved from an original single celled life form. AboveAlpha
A bit touchy eh? Look I didn't make the rules concerning biblical apologists... it wasn't me who decided that the book god wrote was so bad that it needs explaining and deep interpretation. I'm as upset as you about it!!! Which brings me to my question, Why didn't god just write a book that meant the same thing to everyone and needed no interpretation by an apologists? Gravity too is simply a theory I hear.
AHHHH!!!! I am upset about the Gravity comment....the rest is talking about Mythology! AboveAlpha....todays religion is tommorrows MYTHOLOGY!
Gee that would mean that people are using terminology that is not in accord with what you perceive... such as "shelf life". So, a cell and a virus both have intelligence ... one being smarter than the other enabling it to 'trick' the other into believing something that is not true.
I used the word TRICK as a descriptive word rather than attempting to detail out the Chemical Signature Processes that drives a living cell to take on food and Oxygen which a Virus might seem to be. There is no level of intelligence there. AboveAlpha
To attribute a cell with the cognitive ability to speculate or guess that a virus might be something else, attributes to the cell a level of 'intelligence'.
You guys are so intolerant. Just focus on the sand and give us your viewpoint instead of your intolerance.
Mod edit,,,flounder,,2 Using your logic a PLANT that turns towards and grows towards the SUN has a level of intelligence...it does not....it is all Chemistry. Why do I bother? AboveAlpha
how simple. Merely accept subjugation and repent one sins before you kick the bucket. Nothing more than that and paradise awaits you upon death. No wonder there are so many "Christians" that aren't.
Look it wasn't me who came up with hundreds of thousands of ways to interpret a silly book... that would be all those making the claim that it is god's holy word. I'm as upset about this as you! Which begs the question... If its god's holy word why does it need interpreted at all? Is god such a bad writer he can't say what he means and needs apologists to "interpret" his words for him?
All jokes aside ... This is exactly how I came to no longer accept the bible as the word of god. I could not bring myself to accuse an omniscient god of writing such a bad book. No continuity, self contradictory, wrong geography, stories about cities that didn't exist in the time of the story, unbelievable magic that would be better suited for a Disney movie, the list goes on and on... I think that Dood is right the book does encourage thought. And if you think instead of believe as you read the book you can't help but see it for what it really is... a book of badly written magic stories, mythology and fairy tales!
That Giftedone was in error in his judgment. Proof: http://www.politicalforum.com/showthread.php?t=361596&p=1064480987#post1064480987 Now show me yours.
I'm sure you have confused me with you!! - - - Updated - - - Mine are not the ones in question here yours are... or do you even bother to keep track of who you are conversing with and what you say to or ask of them?
I tracked the discussion back and found that I had asked you if you had PROOF of your claim...The discussion continued and you claimed that the proof of your claim was as good as the proof of my claim... I then asked you which claim of mine you were talking about, and your response was "pick one". I did and I pointed you to the posting wherein the proof of my claim was posted.. then I asked you for your proof of claim. Even though it was your proof of claim that was originally requested you are now attempting to say that it is not your claim that was in question. Wake up and smell the coffee Anomaly. Anyone reading this thread can do the trackback as simply as I did and would see that you are attempting to shift the burden of proving a claim. So try being a little more intellectually honest.
I disagree. Although I do agree with you that it applies to you. - - - Updated - - - Could you define "proof" first.
