depends how much you make a year, plan to continue to work, your age, where you live\plan to live, ect..... .
You can be a rich man in Turkiye with an average salary you earn in USA. If you want, we can compare the prices of some basic needs. For examle; how much do you pay on average for one kg (2.2 pound) of tomato in USA ?
you may can not give a general answer to simple questions. and you said "depends how much you make a year" -- this is a joke. First if a person make $1,000,000 a year, he is a rich man for sure. second if a person who has no job, but has $1,000,000 in bank, he is a rich man. what you said is meaningless. you also said depends on your age, - this is another joke, there is no way to call a 20 years old young man with $80,000 a rich man. it is like you wont call a good high school student a scientist.
I'm pretty comfortable where I'm at right now, but to be what I would consider rich, over $1,000,000.00 a year is rich.
someone that makes 6 figures a year with a million at age 25 woudl be doing better off then someone making min wage with a million at age 25 would assuming they both kept their jobs
Let me think..... I can have ten dear close friends,... or ten million dollars.? ?... I'd rather be rich with friends.
And the guy making a million a year is looking at the guy making a billion and thinking he's rich. It's all relative. The question should be what does it matter who's making what? That's their business not the neighbors.
rwild1967 : "I'm pretty comfortable where I'm at right now, but to be what I would consider rich, over $1,000,000.00 a year is rich.", this guy must be super rich, at least $20 millions. - - - Updated - - - I like $grand than a grand child. hohoho
how do you American people think?? you are rich, then it is you are rich. if I say that the person is tall. will you ask that "tall for what?" - - - Updated - - - do you have 20 millions.
If you have enough money to live your life comfortably, from the present all the way until you die, without burdening others, you are a rich man. This, IMO, should be the financial goal of every American. - - - Updated - - - Give some extra to the government. They will use it for benevolent purposes, you can be sure.
Because 'rich' is a relative term. If you ask someone who lives in a cardboard box, they will consider YOU to be rich. If you ask Bill Gates, he will probably not consider you rich.
85 people in the world have as much wealth as the poorest half of the population, that's 3,500,000,000 people. There's a lot wrong with a system or systems which will allow that. An "Heiress" to the Walmart fortune is worth $45 billion. She is openly opposed to a minimum wage for her employees. That says a lot about the filthy rich. Most of them SUCK!! It worked just fine when anyone who earned over $300,000 paid 91% of the excess in taxes. In todays dollars that would probably be $3,000,000. I'd say that's what we should do. That way we could rebuild the infrastructure.
A million dollars total fortune will still set most anyone not a spendthrift comfortably for life. It's not Cote d' Azur money and there are landed poor exceptions to that but I don't expect to see any millionaires in soup kitchen lines just yet. If you're into low 10s of millions you can afford expensive hobbies. You're not affording staff like in Downton Abbey yet, though you might be able to buy the Abbey itself At upper 10 and hundreds you can own a Gulfstar and a villa in Tuscany Billionaires have private islands and personal giraffes.
There are 1700 people have over $1,000,000,000 in the world. they are billionaires. There are 13 million millionaires in the world. (have $1,000,000 + a house), this is very unclear definition made by eggheads, let's say you need at least $1.3 million to be a millionaire.
