http://www.breitbart.com/national-s...ree-way-gay-marriage-takes-place-in-thailand/ So I'm sure this isn't PC, but marriage is/was supposed to be a commitment to a single spouse, for life. If this is marriage, then what isn't marriage? 4,5,6 partners?
Is it? Every religion has plural marriage within it's history, so if it is related religious belief then I do not see your point, having more than once spouse has been common throughout history it is just that most did not practice it for various reasons.
What's the point of being married if you can expand the union to whatever size you want? Is this in Americas future?
If you do not want more wives or husbands then do not do it, simple as that, because others my wish to do so has ZERO impact on your relationship. I believe gay marriages will be the law of the land within 5 years and would add that plural marriage will follow suit with 10 years, banning either has no legal basis and that will be that. So do as you see fit, nothing any one else does means any when I comes to my marriage I would suggest you understand that the same is true for you.
Only if you think it is. Mine is based on me simply making a commitment to my partner publically and there are also legalities that come into to play. Does the high divorce rate of others make your marriage meaningless?
It does make marriage as an institution meaningless among newer generations http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/26/health/families.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0 Which will bring a plethora of new problems to plague society for generations to come http://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2007...part-public-is-concerned-about-social-impact/ But hey, if it feels good, do it--right?
Exactly! If marriage can expand to same sex, then why not multiple partners? There is at least a history of plural marriages. And what's the argument against horse/ghost marriage or any other combination? Nothing.
I'm actually extremely concerned that some will try to make the argument that kids mature at different rates, so why can't they marry a 15 year old, or something equally detestable. I draw the line at protecting children.
Yeah, I can ignore a lot but like I said, protecting children is where I draw the damn line. What about you?
Your last statement is why divorce is so prevalent, people get married too young because that is what everyone is doing, a few months or years later they discover that it was a bad idea and split up, it is our throw away society and partly why the idea of marriage is actually becoming something not as valued, it was not valued to begin with. One cannot blame that on the latest generation, that comes from their parents and their parents.
Children are not adults and as such cannot enter into legal obligations, I cannot see that ever becoming the norm.
At first all the LGBT activist were asking for was abolishing the sodomy laws. That's all they wanted, nothing more. But once the sodemy laws were removed they wanted more. Eventually they wanted the whole nine yards. After they got the whole nine yards they wanted special protections and privileges. Then it was demanding social engineering in the military being able to openly serve and dress in drag. Now they have 3 way gay marriage. How much more do they want ? gay crosswalks ? Oh wait a sec, they already have those too. http://laist.com/2012/09/03/west_hollywoods_permanent_rainbow_crosswalks.php
Language changes meaning. If you insist that it doesn't, the world must be a confusing works for you. But just because you are selling in your existential angst doesn't mean other people are.
