I clearly hear Hicks yell "Draaaaake, we are leaving!" others claim he says "Marines, we are leaving!". What do you think? Although I think its pretty clear he says Drake.
Could be either, but it is clearly one syllable, not two. Is the significance something to do with The Prisoner? No 6 was always rumored to be John Drake, though that was never explicitly stated.
100% "marines". His lips would purse if he started a word that started with "dr", and he didn't do that.
No, it is Drake. Most of the Marines are already know they are leaving (or at least hoping), however, Drake and Vasquez are still popping aliens so Hicks is letting him know they are out of there. Plus you can totally hear Draaaake! Oh, and the dress is Blue and Black.
Sounded like marines to me. He stretches out the "e" and clearly enunciates the "s" at the end. Also starts with an M. I don't hear a drake at all!
I'm a huge Alien/Aliens fan, and I never knew there was such a disagreement over this line. He clearly says "Drake". I don't understand how anyone could even think it was "marines", I don't think it sounds remotely like that. Even if you have a hard time telling what he says, it's definitely a single syllable, which immediately disqualifies "marines".
It sounds like Drake and if you turn off the audio and just focus on the mouth its only one movement. Just lipsync Drake and then Marine and notice how much more you mouth moves for the second work.
They routinely redub lines in movies. Then with the McGurk Effect you could be influenced by what his lips are doing and not the actual sound that is recorded.
