the same goes to Putler´s army, question: why is USA so careful with this gas-station? more here http://theweek.com/articles/545980/russian-navy-verge-collapse
good riddance to bad rubbish when the Russians no longer have any surface ability overseas at all, and ditto for every other country, specifically including the US.
There is a concept in war about keeping your fronts limited. If for some reason Hitler wanted to take Spain, he could have easily, but then he would be forced to double the size of the Atlantic Wall. Crimea would be an exception. It would be to hard for any navy I know of to take by sea (do to the fleet and the slaughter of amphibious assaults), and its only strategic value is guarding Russia's oil rigs. Take St Petersburg and you eliminate all possible naval operations in the North Sea and Atlantic, gain a foothold in the country, and a short path to Moscow. Take Vladivostok and you eliminate all possible naval operations in the Pacific, and the center of Russian military power in Asia which would leave the Trans-Siberian railroad vulnerable, and all the industrial bases leading back to Europe.
The nukes, plus not wanting to have to sort out running the place in the aftermath and drain our own economy to do so; when can just let it continue to self-destruct on its own.The low energy prices are really pounding Putin and his imperialist delusions into mush, so no need for anything drastic, though he will do his best to provoke and wave his lil plastic saber around.

no, you are wrong, read Zbigniew Kazimierz Brzezinski on this subject. USA needs RF in strategic war against Han empire. RF is so week today that it ´d loose all Siberian and far east colonies any moment ....
I disagree; China is not a major military threat to the U.S. Brzezinski was a disaster when he was influential in foreign policy, so his opinions aren't anything to go by. China is too dependent on exports to seriously challenge the status quo anywhere at this time. Launching military operations against Russia just aren't necessary. Putin's sabre-rattling is pretty hollow stuff; he simply can't do much, no matter how much noise he makes.
who said military ? political and economic ....but in case with Moscovy , its the thread to Siberia and far-east
Have you ? If you have, contact the U.S. Navy ASAP they still can't see it or find it. It's called the Novorossiysk. Update:
In any case, nobody has to work hard at all keeping Russia and China at odds with each other; they don't trust each other and have been enemies for longer than I've been alive, so I don't put much stock in China and Russia becoming big buddies and allying against the U.S.; the Red Chinese are too tied to the U.S. economy to jeopardize that relationship in any meaningful way. Nobody likes or trusts Russians, literally nobody, and for good reason. We'll just have wait Putin out and his pending assassination and see who takes over.
you made many good points, i hope that Moscovite will understand it before its too late. understand that with out the west they can not handle Red Hans ...
And Sevastopol and the Black Sea. Unless you want to kick them out I dunno, my understanding is that just ONE nuclear sub with MIRV missiles can destroy most of the entire world. Are the Russians like we Americans and have to have 13 of even the most powerful and expensive weapons groupings that have ever existed?
Likely, the current Russian Navy would be hard pressed to survive a single skirmish against even one advanced destroyer, fortunately even Putin knows this and will act accordingly. Hell they couldn't even manage to keep a single ship off the coast of Australia as a veiled threat....Damn thing almost had to be towed home.
I wouldn't be to sure about that, the Russians anti ship missiles are super sonic traveling from Mach 2. to Mach 3. where as our (U.S. Navy) anti ship missiles are all sub sonic with small warheads. The U.S. Navy made a wrong turn many decades ago and have neglected naval surface warfare where as Russia didn't. It was the Soviet Union who developed the first anti ship missile. The Russians also have the Slava class cruisers that were designed for only one purpose, to sink American super carriers from 300 miles away with it's Sand Box anti ship missiles that travel at Mach 2.5 and have a 2,000 pound semi armor piercing warhead. The Slava tactics according to Janes is that the cruiser would launch a salvo of eight Sand box missiles. Four would target the carrier while the other four would attack the Carrier Strike Group's escorts. All missiles would hit their targets with in a couple of seconds of each other. But the Slava class cruiser doesn't go to sea without it's escorts, there's usually a submarine that also would be launching it's Sand Box missiles and the destroyer and frigate escorts that would be launching it's Ship Wreck anti ship missiles. The Russians have it down to an art where all the anti ship missiles would hit it's targets at the same time. How does a ship defend itself from a dozen or two dozen super sonic missiles coming at it skimming just above the water ? Back during the summer of 2012 during the Obama/Putin show down over Syria where Obama blinked, the Stennis Carrier Strike Group was ordered to leave it's 5th Fleet AOR and proceed to the 6th Fleet AOR in the Mediterranean Sea. But while the carrier strike group was in the Red Sea preparing to transit the Suez Canal into the Mediterranean, Putin moved a Slava class cruiser into the Mediterranean Sea and the U.S. Navy said no way Jose am I getting with in missile range of that Ruskie cruiser that only has one purpose, to sink American aircraft carriers. The USS Stennis was boxed in the Red Sea.
I don't see Putin waving a sabre, but I do see certain paranoid & anti-Russian Baltic and Eastern European states joining the rifle-waving and anti-Russian chorus of the USSA while the EU rather unenthusiastically mimics them for the sake of their alliance.
I take it you are referring to the Three ships completed rather than the six cancelled. I might also point out that this is very weak attack force against even a single carrier group and would be quickly destroyed as soon as it acted upon the U.S navy. It could be you are referring to the one rusting away in Ukraine that was never finished. View attachment 34703
Well the U.S. Navy has ten carriers and no more than three but usually only two can put to sea and fight at any given time. Funny, when G.W. Bush left the White House, 11 % of the Navy ships weren't able to get out of port and be able to fight. Either a radar wasn't working of the FCC wasn't working or a generator wasn't generating, etc. With Obama in the White House by by 2011 it was 27% of the Navy ships couldn't put to sea and fight. Today it's over 50% of the Navy ships can't put out to sea and fight. What Russia is planning to do is build three new fleets all with new warships of new designs. Each fleet will have ships designed to operate with that specific fleet but will be capable to deploy any where in the worlds oceans but the Russian Navy will mostly be a regional force to be dealt with. I believe the Russians are launching ten new ships every year. The Soviet Union/Russia have always come out with interesting designs when it comes to warships and submarines. Some times they are excellent while other times they don't work. Russia going back to Tsar Nicholas II, has always wanted to be a maritime power. Well the Japs whooped their butts in 1905 and the only time Russia became a maritime super power was during the 60's, 70's and 80's during the Cold War. The Soviets/Russia always build their warships for a specific mission to operate in a specific ocean. The Slava class cruisers are built for one mission, to sink super carriers. the Soviets Kiev class aircraft carrier (actually they are cruisers) were designed for one mission, to deny NATO ASW forces access to the Soviet ballistic missile submarine bastions. When the Reagan administration during the 80's reactivated the four Iowa class battleships the Soviet Union went ballistic and protested. The Soviets could never figure out how to sink an Iowa class battleship. Nobody has.
Firstly...your data on the U.S navy is completely inaccurate, though it is fine if Russia believes it to be true. Secondly....Russia has been "Planning" to do many things, and has done very few of them and none very well. But hey...go ahead and believe as you do....makes it so much easier for those you folks try to invade.
The U.S. Navy has five AOR's. Right now there are only two carriers covering the Navy's five AOR's. The CVN-71 Theodore Roosevelt CSG has just entered the 5th Fleet AOR. The CVN-70 Carl Vinson CSG is on station in the 6th Fleet AOR. Where are the other eight carriers ? -> http://www.gonavy.jp/CVLocation.html
A lot of maintenace for our carriers at a huge cost. China will learn quickly that their plans for four (or more) carriers will mean that maybe 1 or 2 will actually be operational at any time...especially considering their vast inexperience with carrier operations. Nevertheless, China can't wait to send a carrier task force around the Hawaiian Islands to make 'a point' about their new ability to project power. The U.S. will never be able to send a carrier task force through the Taiwan Straits again.
The Russians will have to deal with the German Type 212 submarines...very quiet. Probably the stealthiest submarine in existence at the moment. The Germans sold a few Dolphin class subs to the Israelis which will basically be doomsday machines. If Israel is destroyed...God forbid...Iran won't be too far behind. Israel will still be capable of nuclear retaliation. Sweden has also developed very quiet submarines...that could potentially give Russia fits.
Well remember, when you're shopping at WalMart you are paying for the maintenance for those chi-com carriers.
