Reading through many of your posts on this forum it appears that you are in need of reading a Richard Dawkins book on evolution more than any human who has ever walked on the face of this earth (no offense.)
If you had to pick one, which is MORE correct? A. The bible got it right, and the earth is not even remotely close to multiple billions of years old. OR B. The bible got it wrong, and the earth is in the multiple billions of years old. Which is more correct, Poly?
Just like there are not many followers of Zeus today....and in 200 years from now, not very many followers of Jesus. We are winning.
Yes, Jesus was wrong for believing in Adam/Eve, since we now know that Adam/Eve is a fairy tale....so that makes Jesus likely a fairy tale as well.
Actually I believe the entire story to be fiction. As usual I ask you a question about the fairytale and you tell me I need to use my imagination. Thats exactly right...in order for any of your belief to be explained you need to use your imagination. You guys never have an actual answer for the simple reason there isnt one. You cant even tell us what they fed the lion. Bunch of wizards writing that story eh?
Now be a little sensible. How is one to answer a question when the information necessary to provide an answer that is accurate is not available. I have asked the membership of this forum to answer 'where did the information contained in DNA come from?" and all I got was a bunch of opinions but no evidence to support their imaginative answers.
Why? It was part of what the teacher had been taught to believe as part of his religion. Unlike you, 2000 years in the future, and scientifically knowledgeable, he had no reason to believe it was not true. He could easily have existed. And, IMO, did - as a Jewish teacher. If, of course, you think he was divine then the situation changes.
lol The tests are used to modify the hypothesis, making it more accurate. If a aspect of a hypothesis is experimentally invalidated, then it is disgarded. The hypothesis which is found in abiogensis are indeed testable. So I think this is the part where you concede the point. Human's simply saying "we do not know" is not quite as arrogant and self-righteous as stating "we know that goooooddddddddddd did it".
The existence of a "big c consciousness" would need to be validated. Until then, there is no reason in my mind to take that any more seriously than any other god claim. It just sounds like some new age nonsense.
Most kids figure that out by the time they are ten or twelve years old.. Its like Jonah living in the belly of a fish for 3 days.. LOLOL.. These are teaching narratives and morality tales.. not history or science.. If you push literalism, you drive people away from faith.. No one should have to park their brain to be a Christian.
Yes. It logically cannot have happened in our physical realm. You cant even tell us something as inane as what they actually fed the animals. Its like religious people dont ask and dont want anyone else asking about the logistics. Your answer was apparently they scooped up dead carcasses and used those as a food supply. If you thought about the logistics for 30 seconds you would see the glaring reasons that make the story physically impossible. For example why the flood? If he can do anything why not just snap his fingers and make all the sinners dead without the need for a flood?
That is total nonsense. The remains of the ark have been found several times in several different places.
Aesop's Fables and Grimms Fairy Tales do a whole lot better job of teaching morality. Not to mention Dr Seuss.
Very astute observations. Correct, IF he was divine (as a FORMER Christian I of course don't believe that anymore) like the Bible says then of course over the last 2000 years he should have told us that the texts got it all wrong....but he doesn't do that, so he's either non-existent, or a real prick, either way not worth worshipping.
The logistics of it are beyond silly, for one thing. Clearly Jesus is not really divine (so you're not really going to magically survive your own death to be with some hippie in some invisible Neverland - sounds good though doesn't it), or he would have renounced that ridiculous Bible supposed truth - if he cared for us, his "children", that is.
exactly correct. I distinctly remember being a child and asking the priests about the moral of the stories assuming thats what they were getting at and they were like...listen you little pain in the ass.....this stuff really happened...and I was like ummm ok these guys are NUTS! How old was noah again? Can you repeat that....oh thats what I thought you said.
True. Good post. So then of course the similarly magical tale of an invisible bigoted hippie, who if we just "believe" in him, will magically let us survive our own deaths to go live in an exclusive gated (no Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, etc. - no riff raff, you know!!) invisible country club in the sky, ruled over by said intolerant hippie. To be consistent, that is. PS if something like that sounds too good to be true, then, as always, it probably is. Sorry Jesus and Santa, we've outgrown you.
Whoa, hold on their you heathen atheist!!! Noah being 950 years old is just as believable as Jack having magic beans that created a magic beanstalk that magically reached the sky where magic giants lived! So of course we can believe it!....well up until the age of 5 years old, but STILL.
I bet those priests had as much hatred for you as Jesus had hatred for those 3 entire villages that he condemned to eternal torture for not believing that his magic tricks ("miracles") were real. Religion is mostly about hatred of the "other". You're kind of a hero of mine, for your intellectual bravery.
oh did they hate me. More hypocrisy....how dare I ask questions like if god is everywhere why do I need to be here? The real answer is that it is hard to brainwash me if I am not in close proximity to the brainwashers. Also..why would a god require worship? A true god wouldnt being omniscient an all.
"if god is everywhere why do I need to be here?".....you were a real little s**t, weren't you! I'm sure you caused those priests to have actual nightmares. The world needs far more people like you. I myself was too cowardly to confront my own unscientific tormentors. I usually don't have too much empathy for priests, but YOUR priests I gotta feel pretty sorry for those poor souls. ----------- They believed: keep your friends close and those you want to brainwash closer. - - - Updated - - - Simple answer: because this is where the collection plate is!
