Wisconsin lawmaker proposes free tampons, pads in public restrooms

(I wonder if she's been smoking too much weed)

So basically she has NO idea how much it'll cost, but that it should be law mandating all public restrooms to stock tampons... I mean wouldn't a responsible lawmaker at least attempt to come up with how much her ideas would cost, or is this such a critical life issue that people are dying and suffering and we don't have time to do things like figure out how much it will be, we just must act and worry about the expenses or benefits later?

Is this woman suggesting women are incapable and not smart enough to have their own feminine hygiene products? that women are somehow not smart enough to understand their own body, and we must mandate the government start taking care of their feminine needs because they aren't responsible or capable of performing these actions on their own? is this the biggest issue in this democrats life, this is what she spends her time on?

P.S. I mean I could think of thousands of other things in wisconsin that need immediate attention from lawmakers, I guess tampons didn't make my list?

It seems we have a tampon crisis. The right wing media has ignored this tragedy for too long.

NO where did she claim any of this CRAP :

""Is this woman suggesting women are incapable and not smart enough to have their own feminine hygiene products? that women are somehow not smart enough to understand their own body, and we must mandate the government start taking care of their feminine needs because they aren't responsible or capable of performing these actions on their own? is this the biggest issue in this democrats life, this is what she spends her time on?"""

She DID say that tampons and sanitary napkins are as necessary as toilet paper and should be provided free like toilet paper.

    Backers of free Toilet paper:
ARE suggesting people are incapable and not smart enough to have their own butt cleaning products? that people are somehow not smart enough to understand their own body, and we must mandate the government start taking care of their butt wiping needs because they aren't responsible or capable of performing these actions on their own? is this the biggest issue in this democrats life, this is what she spends her time on?

Is this what YOU spend your time getting mad about????LOL!

what do you feel is essential for a public restroom to provide... a hole to poop in, paper to wipe with, and a sink to wash your hands in after?

is that a fair summary of what a public rest room should provide?

now it needs to provide feminine hygiene products? next to the condoms? next to ads about equality? in all the gender neutral stalls? with anti-bullying ads above urinals?

how have women managed to survive this long in the history of america, without rest rooms providing this critical and direly needed item?!?!?!?!?!

P.S. I guess you're right, this is what I get mad about, politicians wasting time on weed and tampons when we have so many other things to do to help people... was that wrong?

When it's Other Peoples Money, who cares what the cost is?

Heh - When I was working my way thru college at Carl's Jr, we had two girls who always, ALWAYS needed to go home (of course) for some feminine hygiene products because they had JUST started their periods - periods which always conveniently started whenever there wasn't a female assistant manager around AND just before the dinner rush. So when I was promoted to AM, I ran out to the local supermarket and bought every kind of product those two could possibly ask for and put them in a box in the car trunk. And wouldn't you know it, a week after I was promoted, they pulled that stunt on me. I just handed them the key to the trunk and said "Hey, everything is right there, go for it." So, I know at least TWO girls who have no idea what's going on with their own bodies

Oh, oddly enough they never had that problem again - funny thing, that!

    I agree.

We should make everyone carry around their own toilet paper and hand soap, too.

why do we even have public rest rooms, lets just require people to carry their own plastic bags to pickup their own poop...

if its sanitary enough for dogs to poop and pee on lawns... why can't we? its literally no different... we should eliminate bath rooms and just have a plastic bag dispenser outside every public entrance... with a fenced 3 foot by 3 foot pad of grass for people to use... this way the homeless population will also be better served... yay a liberal utopia!!!!!

P.S. we won't have to identify the grass pad as gender neutral either... lolol

    lolol

Honestly don't see the problem with this. Toilet paper and soap are necessary for all, just because vaginal plugs are necessary for women a few days out of the month doesn't mean they too shouldn't be provided. All falls under the same scope to me. Honestly surpised it's not standard already. Well, actually, given history, makes sense.

what happens when the government mandated tampon fails to meet the needs of a woman, or one rest room runs out of the government mandated tampon?

will you support the lawsuit that follows since this is mandated... toilet paper and soap are currently not mandated... so you can't sue when the bath room has none... but now that it is mandated, you open yourself up to liability for failing to meet the lawful requirements set forth in her proposal...

sure I think it'd be a silly and frivolous lawsuit, but the way her proposal is written, you have to by law provide them, failure to do so would be unlawful...

it would also apply to ALL bath rooms... it made no separation for male or female or unisex bathrooms... and it would require locker rooms as well, male or female... since you might have a transgender person using the opposite bath room, they still require these feminine hygiene products...

P.S. I bet you didn't see that coming...

P.S.S. in case you are desperately seeking a tampon, there is an app for that...

I decided to ask a woman to find out what happens when they don't have one... they text a friend nearby... if the friend doesn't have any... they do exactly what you just suggested... they roll up a wad and line the panties with it... assuming they weren't within quick walking distance of a store... thats exactly what she said they do... so the problem has already been solved for almost the century we have had public rest rooms...

Well, it's just by the luck of the draw that you don't, right?

Maybe if women didn't have to carry around those bulky things everywhere they would keep their purses to a more manageable size and there would be more room for everyone to sit down on public transit. Think of it that way.

I have been informed that the need for these things is not reliably predictable, and has led to numerous unsanitary episodes in public places, often at the expense of rental car seats and other upholstery. Additionally, I am told, there are some girls that come from families of limited means that avoid school attendance at certain times of the month because of this issue. So there may actually be cost savings and better value received for the education dollar....

O please Gdd don't let this become yet another Feminist issue... I am so, so tired of those.........

My wife said the same thing, although she keeps spares in her purse and the car just in case, so yeah - planning ahead.

Hey, I didn't hire them - I just had to deal with 'em.

The look on their faces when they knew the jig was up, much less on the rest of us when they knew I had them beat - absolutely priceless. Everyone was fed up with their complaining and skipping out of work all the time. But every place has slackers like that, I suppose.

do these children who attend school, attend it in the united states, in a public school? because you can go down to the nurses office and get one anytime... its actually listed as a medical supply so only the school nurse can dispense them... thats why they had to pass laws and stuff to put condoms in bath rooms... because they were considered medical supplies and could only be distributed by the school nurse... hence the fish bowl of condoms usually on the desk in there... problem solved...

you know if tampons become mandated... I wonder if this will appear on the school supply list I have to buy every year... kleenex, tampons, pencils... and every student has to bring a box to share for the class room... and if you're not receiving subsidized lunches, you have to bring two sets of all the school supplies since they force you to subsidize the supplies of the other kids too... does this mean every parent will be required to buy two boxes of tampons for the school supply list?

I have a couple in my glove box for my wife or any of my female friends that might be in need.

Got TP in there too.....and a flashlight and matches.
Liter of water and a pint of whiskey(unopened) under the seat.

    Buck knife in the ahtray.
    Toothpicks in the visor.

Carry the same stuff in a backpack when I'm not driving.

At one time or another all those items have been needed.

Some women's purses I've seen would hold all that and a microwave oven! :roflol:

you mean those evil corporations that are controlling womens lives? how dare you support those evil rich corporations run by men controlling women! we must liberate women and the stigma we attached to periods... and allow women to simply bleed, its a natural organic process and we must stop shaming womens periods!

    #PeriodShaming #FreeBleed

    http://www.cosmopolitan.com/health-fitness/q-and-a/a44392/free-bleeding-marathoner-kiran-gandhi/

remember the story we were discussing on this board not too long ago... the woman who free bled in protest during a marathon to bring attention to this issue?

P.S. this is why I hate having a brain that remembers everything, some things I just want to forget... but I can't... (cries softly and rocks back and forth)

It's typical crazy people stuff.... She was probably sitting in the bathroom one day - forgot a tampon and thought to herself "it's governments responsibility to provide tampons because I cant always remember"...

    These people are nuts...

They believe it's the government (and taxpayers) responsibility to care for them... They're nothing more than adult bodies with the minds of children..

I thought liberal women wanted government to leave their body alone.
