...before we have some ugly incident here, like the one posted in another thread, where a woman in a Burka was attacked while wearing a Burka when she went to pick her children up at school. I find myself looking on with loathing at women in Burkas I encounter while shopping. I am immediately on guard, and consider leaving the store in case a bomb attack is about to occur. Burkas in Western countries do not provide a woman with protection; they are an incitement, and should be recognized as such. A culture which thinks it cute to throw acid concealed under a Burka in the faces of others should not be indulged by allowing Burkas in mainstream stores. I shop in stores here that are Muslim, and no one is wearing a Burka there. Why are they showing up in Marshall's?
I agree. They should also ban Yarmulkes in public unless there is a little propeller attached to them. Also, those big fur hats that the Jews in a West LA parade around in on hot summer days bother me a lot. I would also look into the secret underwear that the Mormans wear, and the Orange robes worn by those wackos up in Oregon. Those turbans that the Sikhs wear are a perfect place to hide grenades, ban 'em!
I agree, we should also ban mini skirts. It's clearly incitement for rape. People can't be held accountable for their own actions when they see clothing. Then, even though it sounds corny, the terrorists have already won. Maybe your loathing will help convert some normal muslims into terrorists? Same reason some show up in Walmarts wearing crazy clothes. Because they can? https://www.pinterest.com/harrietswindell/attention-all-walmart-shoppers/
Somebody needs to remember that here in 'Merica, you can wear pretty much anything you want, even a dumb looking bee-suit. Yeah, that's a good point. How do these guys go through airport screening? Even when I'm x-rayed, I have to take my coat off. Are they patted down, every time?
Of course I do. Why would I post this thread if their presence in mainstream stores didn't bother me? Around breakable objects, they are an absolute hazard; the people wearing them can apparently only half see where they are going, and they seem to want to go down the wrong side of aisles and not to be able to move politely aside when others want to get by.
No, the ones turning up here are all black and not wraps. The ones you illustrate are much more acceptable, as it would not be as easy to conceal a bulky weapon under them, IMO...and they are a more attractive color. Those black things billow out about a foot away from the actual person; you could hide a whole armory under there.
They had black hoods over their heads with a cutout for the eyes. There was no lace where the cutouts were.
Sounds like the issue is anything that obscures vision (shades indoors, hoods, staring at a mobile phone) and any kind of long skirt or dress.
I would wear a burka if it was banned. Just saying. No one tells me what I can't wear in a free country.
So, here we see not only some fantastic racism, but also a shocking indictment of the durability of "freedom" in the US. All it took was one tiny little terrorist attack to have you completely and utterly throw all concept of freedom to the wind. Luckily, your position isn't even close to being the prevailing one.
You are using the "She was wearing a skirt so she was asking to be raped" excuse. This woman should not have been assaulted REGARDLESS of what she was wearing.
Sure, why not? The Constitution of the United States of America has already been tossed aside. What else can we make illegal? Hoodies, low cut pants (I personally find those offensive). Yoga pants (they tried to do that in Montana). I have a patch from a toy run that allows law enforcement in Waco, TX to arrest me for organized criminal activity. Be afraid....be very afraid...of anything that isn't like you! Better still, let the media decide what you should be afraid of.
I didn't say she should have been assaulted. I said that, with the terroristic threats underway worldwide, a Burka is a provocation because of the weaponry it can conceal.
Don't be so certain. The French made them illegal, with good reason. The English should as well, after the incident of a woman there having had acid concealed under a Burka thrown at her face.
I am not interested in being around Muslims wearing enormous black robes and veils that hide their identities and provide room to easily conceal weapons and bombs. That has nothing to do with clothing that is in bad taste, or the fact that many people are no longer allowed to wear religious jewelry to work.
