Agreed but I want that poster to give me the factual answer. He said Al Roker met racism face to face. So in order for it to be racism I would like to know how he determined that.
Actually, a real concern is minority riots and the notably higher rate of criminal conduct by blacks, plus demands by minorities for superior status and special rights in furious self pity raging. While millionaire white talking heads keep trying to sell white-guilt, only real fools do not recognize very real dangers if you are a different race in certain minority mob or group settings. Liberals have done all they can to maximize defining blacks and Latinos as not part of mainstream society - and then point to their success calling it racism.
He ASSUMED that the cab driver was white. In this sense he was the one being racist. It's funny there no other word. Just funny
Very weak, Doug. Slavery was 150-250 years ago. We took a worldwide institution that had existed for thousands of years and abolished it less than 90 years after our founding. All of the groups had a generation or so where it was tough, but eventually they all prospered. The Irish were unwelcome in NYC in 1845 and they were running the city a generation later. Were there millions of Irish, Italians, Germans, Poles, Swedes, etc. welcomed into Canada or Mexico? Hell no. And now we're flooded with immigrants from the third world. We just keep absorbing people from different cultures. Go spew your anti-American crap somewhere else.
It doesn't matter if the cabbie was green. It was still racism. That fact that you don't (want to) get that says more about you than anything. - - - Updated - - - Oddly red headed kids aren't being shot at a higher rate than anyone else... The bigotry against blacks was deeper and broader than any faced by other groups, and it still persists or we wouldn't be talking about it now.
Nice strawman. I just said earlier that most Americans aren't racist. Some are, and according to Americans it's a problem. So don't try to sugarcoat your history or revise world history (not all countries had slavery). And to return to the original point - no you didn't welcome newcomers. You may have a point that after time you accepted them and they thrived but that was 2nd and 3rd generation when they blended in well and applies mostly to Caucasians. Some Americans have always displayed bigotry and even violence toward new immigrants and continue to do so (according to Americans) to visible minorities.
US police did not violate the law! It's Kremlin propaganda!
I'm always amazed how people know how others are racists...Is it some sort of racistdar? Was the police officer who shot down Michael Brown racist because he valued his life more than he did Michaels?
It's a judgement call based on beliefs, words or actions. Let's look at a definition so we know what it looks like:
Why was the officer accused of being racist for defending himself? Why is it when anything bad happens to some minority is due to racism, why are people so quick to make that judgement? How come when the race is reversed that judgement is never made? Funny enough the anwser is racism.
It's not racism unless the action is a result of racist beliefs. Did the cop shoot the Black guy because he holds racist opinions about Blacks? Then it's racist. If the cop screwed up (and I'm talking generically here) and would have done the same thing to a white person then it's not racist. How is it never made? Racism isn't limited to any race. But if you look back over this thread you'll see that there is not a single Black person making racist comments about whites. Not one.
You can't deny that there is a knee jerk reaction every time something bad happens to a minority, often perpetrated by a white man leading to an accusation of racism. I only know two black posters on this forum, with that being said, i don't see any white people making racist comments about blacks either.
Exactly, anything said about a race is racist. Hence the results in the poll. Would you be so kind to point the racist posts made on this thread? Maybe i missed them.
On this forum you can't do that. But you can look for yourself. Go back over the posts and use the definition of racism specifically: In each post you see did the poster make a comment that a race possessed characteristics to that race? A clue would be where the poster makes a generalized comment about Blacks.
Black people should take vitamin D supplements if they live in places where sun doesn't shine as much, is this a racist statement? Black people tipping less is a racist statement? Black people blaming the "establishment" for their shortcomings is racist? Would saying women blame the patriarchy for their shortcomings sexist? Well a poster mentioned black pleople being interested in vengeance, i don't think that is true, but i wouldn't call it racist. Then another poster makes a generalization about black people, saying that many black people use the victim status, and another generalization about white people, so he generalizes both races, is he racist? How did he distinguish one as inferior or superior when he made generalizations about them both? Also how is it any less racist generalizing white cops who shot black people as being racist? Well those were the only instances i could think that you've perceived as racist. I don't see any racism towards black people honestly, didn't you just said Americans didn't welcome irish and italians? Isn't that a generalization? Weren't you being racist towards white people?
I bet all those blacks dragged behind pick-up trucks, beaten or lynched from the trees wished their only problem was a cab accidentally driving past them to the person who waved them down better.
No - read the definition again. Yes. Yes It is - it's a generalization. Both cases it's racist. I didn't specify race.
