Where was the Militia, when escaped slaves were being hunted down like dogs, in Free states? Where was the Militia, when the KKK was burning down black churches ans black homes, and lyinching blacks? Where was the Militia, when racism was enforced as law in The South? Where was the Militia, when hundreds of thousands of innocent Japanese-Americans were rounded up, thrown into internment camps, and their property stolen? Where was the Militia, when Native Americans were being slaughtered? Where was the Militia, when cops were beating Civil Rights protestors in the 1960s? Where was the Militia, when state troopers were beating Socialists in Peekskill NY in the 1940s? For all the talk today of the Militia being there to stant up for freedom and liberty, their track record sure doesn't show it.
Weren't you complaining that the other side always made this into a topic about race? Aren't YOU the guy telling me that the militia is the National Guard? If so, the "militia" were the ones forcing George Wallace to back down. Or are you now claiming that there is a citizen militia? Perhaps, as today, those who were inclined to join the militia were opposed to non-whites taking America over. Oh, you can have your fun here, but where do you condemn it elsewhere? Do you condemn the Jews for demanding their own homeland? How many whites do you see running the show in North Korea? And you're preaching about racism in America? The Japanese don't believe in intermarrying nor giving up anything to round eyes. Wouldn't you say THEY are a "racist" culture? Or, do you reserve this paranoid drivel only to whites? FWIW, the Black Panthers always described their right to own firearms and defend themselves against the government in constitutional terms. You might say that some militias were made up of black extremists. This may come to you as some big freaking surprise, but there are issues other than race. America was founded by whites and they had no intention of extending the privileges of citizenship to non-whites. Whether that is good or bad is not the debate here. What it says is that there is a wide berth of difference between unalienable Rights and the privileges of citizenship. Most people don't understand the difference; they for sure did not in most of the instances you cite... just as they don't fully understand the issue today. That has NOTHING to do with the militia.
Really Ron, I'd get my history straight. There were only 127K Japanese in the US, not hundreds of thousands. Of those, several thousand served in the military. BTW, not all Japanese were interned, mostly those living on the west coast, accounting for 2/3rds. In return the Japanese espionage network was dismantled. Better than even trade in the process. I just don't have the time to go through the rest.
Even with your numbers it's not hundreds of thousands interred. And they still destroyed the Japanese espionage network in the process. Japanese living within the US were also clearly involved in the Pear Harbor attack giving intelligence to the IJN in the process. And you really expect the militia to DEFEND Indian raiders? Really, that's a bit of a stretch.
why didnt the Militia defend black citizens from police brutality? why didnt the Militia defend black citizens from the KKK? why didn't the Militia defend innocent Japanese Americans from illegal loss of freedom without Due Process?
Please Ron, this is getting old. And police brutality? Really? How much of it was deserved, keeping in mind that the African American crime rate has been off the charts since it began being recorded. I'm just not responding further to this ridiculousness.
Where was the militia when the federal government was pointing sniper rifles at peaceful protesters over cattle on BLM land? Whoops!
LOL!!!!! how could beating peaceful protestors in The South in the 1960s possibly be deserved? so much for the so-called "Militia". starting to look nothing more than a racist, bigoted private army.
I have no doubt if a citizens' militia was opposing the government you would be raging that they are domestic terrorists and vigilantes. The militia is for defense against foreign powers and attempts to overthrow the government. - - - Updated - - - Where were Democrats when those things were happening? Oh, that's right, it was Democrats doing those acts of violence against blacks.
and to defend The People against government oppression and tyranny. ....unless the victims are black, Muslim, Japanese, or Socialists, it seems.
The local Chester and Homestead, PA unorganized citizen militia was helping burn down the homes of blacks in 1917 while they were still inside. https://books.google.com/books?id=8...page&q=militia helped to lynch blacks&f=false
no doubt. when it comes to defending freedom & liberty in the USA, the Militia has been notoriously absent.
to be fair, the minority would be killed by the majority if they fought back with a milita back then... they would of been declared a deadly threat by the majority and wiped out .
fighting for liberty and freedom is sometimes a losing battle. doesn't means it shouldn't be fought, nonetheless
blacks were being brutalized as they peacefully fought for civil rights in The South. where was the Militia?
Ronstar, You tend to be a bit hypocritical. Where was the militia in the 1960s and 1970s? As far as I can tell, it lay in ruins - virtually nonexistent. People did not regroup until the 1980s, but when they did... The year was 1985. Oscar Lorick, a black man, was about to lose his farm due to a government foreclosure. He pleaded for a few more days to pay he back taxes, but the sheriff would not entertain the idea. Over a hundred Georgia militia members (aka farmers and concerned citizens) went to Lorick's defense. Armed with rifles, those men made sure Lorick's rights were defended. BTW, many of those would be considered "racist" by you. Deny it and ignore it, Ronstar. The truth rarely supports your narrative.
Being that the militia is citizens. Ask yourself why the citizens don't defend everyone all the time? Why have a police force if the citizens are armed and law abiding? Disarm the citizen and threaten them with imprisonment for doing a policemans' job and you will have made the citizen militia what it is today. Nothing. You happy about that?
Then it's a good thing that most militia leaders (and by leader I mean those who have earned their positions not appointed themselves as leaders) are not warmongers. Ronstar demands to know where the militia was whenever ... Nobody ever looks to the obvious answer. Maybe the militia was there and armed conflict was not the appropriate response.
you got it wrong --- radical right wingers were aiming at cops: Where was the militia when peaceful protesters march in Ferguson while Oath Keepers sided with the cops who were employing agent provocateurs in creating violence?
