What a bunch of biased hogwash. The above does a disservice to the 18 year old's of today who enlist.
What does it matter for the sake of this debate if one served or not? I have a lot of respect for veterans, but no respect for those who would use their veteran status to lord over non veterans.
How Dare You!? Somewhere there is an 18 year old kid sweating in the desert by day and freezing in it by night, missing his home, missing his family, missing his life and knowing that there is a chance he will never get back. That he might never drink another beer, or see another ball game, or kiss another girl. He is fighting a war that began before he even started school, over buildings that collapsed before he ever knew they had been built. He is doing it so that sisters can go to school and get better lives, he is doing it so that his parents can go to work without fear, and he is doing it so that you can sit there, comfortably behind your keyboard and abuse your 1st amendment right to insult him and his entire generation. As a veteran you should be ashamed, and as a fellow veteran I am ashamed of you.
How dare you to make such a claim. According to you our soldiers are scared little delicate flowers. I believe our military is still voluntary and those who volunteer do so with bravery and with a wish to serve our country. How dare you make them sound like sniveling cowards!
I’m sure that if you just keep on repeating that over and over again, people will start to believe it’s true.
Dont take this thread as slamming ALL 18 year olds. There are a a lot of them that have been raised in the stripe of the 40s 18 year olds. That includes my 3 sons, 2 of which served in the Navy in the 90s. Fortunately there are real American families that are raising real American sons and daughters. Unfortunately there are too many of the type that is raising hell in colleges today that are so delicate that they dont want to be told no. All they do is whine and demand what ever they want.
How about any family the believes in God family and country, and works hard, and believes in personal responsibility.
Sounds like a Good measure, but I do not see it as "the" measure for what constitutes a real American family. How about a family that believes in family and country, and works hard, and believes in personal responsibility. Would they be a real American family?
