Turkey is now threatening the United States... Well now, Turkey is not only set to use the fight against the YPG as an excuse to intervene in Syria on behalf of the Sunni rebels battling to beat back the Russian and Iranian advance, but Ankara is also demanding that the US recognize the YPG as a terrorist group. If Washington refuses, "measure will be taken." "If the Unites States is really Turkey's friend and ally, then they should recognize the PYD a Syrian branch of the PKK as a terrorist organization. If a friend acts as an enemy, then measures should be taken, and they will not be limited to the Incirlik Airbase, Turkey has significant capabilities," Erdogan advisor Seref Malkoc told Bugun newspaper. So yeah. Turkey just threatened the US. I say, we let the Russians know we will not lift a finger to defend Turkey should Russia decide to take them out...
I don't think it matters what we tell Putin.....He already said, any that Assad didn't invite into Syria. Will be dealt with. So let Erdogan and Turkey jump into Syria. No article 5 to hide behind. Plus we should respond back. We told you not to fund Daesh. We weren't joking around. You do what you think you got to do. Then we will do what is necessary. Naturally, we tell them that while pulling out an expensive napkin.
“Lavrov also drew attention to the unacceptability of Turkey’s provocative actions violating Syria’s territorial integrity,” TASS reported. Lavrov and Kerry also reaffirmed the need for Russia-US military coordination to establish the cessation of hostilities in Syria. I'm waiting for Turkey to do something stupid.
Well, if he is not, Erdoğan will promptly have him executed.... Somehow I do not think that will happen.
NATO said it already, and Turkey knows it...AKP fights in Syria own internal political battle . any idea what Turkish Kemalistic army thinks about AKP political games in Syria and Turkish South east?
They cannot be happy about the prospect of being used for fodder for the Russians to demonstrate the effectiveness of their military hardware for perspective customers....
Erdogan is probably an Islamist. Part of the rise of ISIS is because we did not destroy more of Saddam's army because Turkey refused to allow us to introduce the 4th ID from the NATO base in Turkey which was to act as the anvil to our invasion hammer. He seems to take pleasure in crossing us. Further, our Syrian policy is so screwed up that we are supporting factions that are fighting against each other and those our allies are supporting. Our most steadfast allies in Iraq are the Kurds. Our military alliance with Turkey is critical because they control the Straits that the Russian Navy must traverse to get from their only warm water ports to the world's oceans. I think it's time we re-establish some direct contacts with Turkey's military leadership.
Hey, remember that time Turkey was all "up yours" and drifting away from the US and NATO? Well, not so much anymore: "On Saturday, Turkey dug in, demanding unconditional support from the United States. 'The only thing we expect from our U.S. ally is to support Turkey with no ifs or buts,' Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told journalists in Ankara." https://www.washingtonpost.com/worl...374030-d593-11e5-a65b-587e721fb231_story.html
I'm sure he won't even sent his army in. Mercs and the Syrian army armed with Russian weapons and equipment should get the Job done just fine. Maybe some of the Rebel groups groups will join in. It would be like the whole uniting against a common enemy thing. The Rebels maybe sunni, but there is no say that they don't have a national pride and allow Turkey to just take their land.
Turkey has forces embedded everywhere for it's future caliphate. They have Saudi Arabia with thirty other Sunni nations in their Islamic army and Erdogan & Devotoglu have been arousing Turkic people for at least ten years from nations as far apart as China and Bosnia. Turkey helped form and was supporting ISIS, Al Nusra and a bunch of other terrorist groups whose names I can't recall. Turkey is also allied with the Kiev government in Ukraine...and there are ISIS fighters embedded in Mariupol together with the Right Sector. ISIS is also enbedded and causing trouble in the Central Asian states, as well as in the Caucasus. In Europe there are at least 5,000 members of ISIS who are waiting for Erdogan to give the word. Should Russia find itself attacked on all sides because of Turkey, then it leaves them with only one alternative, and that is to attack Turkey proper. It would force Erdogan to call in all his troops...as well as his Sunni and terrorist supporters for help. I think Turkey is in for a big surprise. My suggestion to any foreigners in Turkey, 'GET OUT OF ISTANBUL NOW'.
bunch of BS, you know that Turkey totally Dominates Muscovy in Conventional warfare in this region , right? needs the numbers ?
It was the Kemalist army that exterminated almost 40,000 Kurds two decades ago, so I'm not too sure if they would object to what Erdogan is doing... at least as far as killing the Kurds are concerned. By the way it's not being told, but a whole squadron of Erdogan's airforce was killed in the bus attack in Ankara.
Russia ranks second in military might in the world, Turkey ranks tenth. This is why they keep trying to drag Nato in for support, but without the US, Nato has no power. http://www.globalfirepower.com/country-military-strength-detail.asp?country_id=russia
Moskaliy have the nerve to speak of territorial integrity !!! What an f -ng joke !!! - - - Updated - - - The Moskaliy can bring in more troops after all they have Chcehens who like to kiss Moskovs azz so Putin can send in the Chechens.
Hi, Jeannette; does this fit in here with what you are discussing? Feb.20/2016 NATO warns Turkey it can't count on support in a conflict with Russia as tensions escalate European diplomats warned that Ankara cannot invoke Article 5 Germany says that NATO cannot 'pay the price for a war started by Turks' Turkey has called for international ground operation in Syria Russia called Security Council meeting to halt Turkey's shelling of Kurds http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...upport-conflict-Russia-tensions-escalate.html -------------- It seems to be coming to a head.
They just had a terrorist attack that killed dozens of thier people, soldieres at that. They are pissed, upset, and out for blood and the blood they want is from those responsible but the only way that they can get to them is with the US's help. It's understandable that they would be upset that the US has been slinking around with its support of a long time ally and I highly doubt that they are doing anything other then speaking out of anger. They are not going to do crap that might be negative towards us. And the last time the US suffered a major terrorist attack, we set an entire nation on fire to hunt down and slaughter those responsible.
If I had been president the past 4 years, we wouldn't have even touched the civil war in Syria, and what all those countries did wouldn't be our concern.
It's one thing for Nato to say they will not help Turkey if it goes to war with Russia in Syria, but if Russia attacked Turkey which is a strategic location, would Nato stay out of it? I don't think so!
