These striking images show just how overcrowded China's population really is

    http://www.businessinsider.com/photos-show-china-overcrowded-2016-4

The United states has over 315 million people and many area's are already overcrowded. California has 38 million people. Do we have to get like China before we start talking about population control? By the way, 90% of population growth in California and 70% of population growth in the nation during the 1990's was from immigration and their offspring and the argument that there is plenty of open space like in Montana is bogus.

The earth could easily handle 10x the amount of people we currently have. Don't confuse the misappropriation of resources with the lack of said resources.

Not if they all want to drink fresh water....or our quality of life goes back 100+ yrs. how humans live would have to radically change. RADICAL!!! The earth can't easily handle who's living on her now if you believe the damage were causing. Multiplying us by 10 would be disastrous.

Don't confuse the misappropriation of resources with resources being available to the masses... If people don't have fresh air, water and food does it matter why?

Did you think that the wealthy who use water during a drought to water their hibiscus and fill their pools will give up their water to those who need it to survive?

much of China is sparsely populated. China is no different than the USA in the first 1/2 of the 1900's when people tended to live atop each other in small geographic areas. As China evolves it will become more dispersed but meccas will be in a few major areas much like in most countries including the USA.

Please prove credible substantiation for that allegation.

    Why just pick on China?

India has 1.4 billion people too.

No, it couldn't. Under present models, the Earth could NOT maintain 60 Billion people.

Unless, (ironically) like some Utopian Socialist, you imagine all the world's resources efficiently and equally distributed among billions.

But "endless growth" is the dream of radical Rightwingers and anti-contraception Social Cons.

Interesting photos and thanks for the link. The sheer scale of China's population boggles my mind. They have a billion more people than we do. I've read elsewhere that because of that huge population, China has more genius children, than the US has children. That fact alone is going to make competition for future jobs tougher for our kids. Plus, they just changed their "one child" rule because the population is aging, so they intend to keep the numbers up.

    World population: 7.125 billion
Alaska, land area: 663,000 sq mi (0.33% total land mass of the earth)

If the entire population of the world lived in an area the size of Alaska, each person would have 2580sqft of living space, and 99.67% of the world would be available to support them.

    Overpopulation? Overcrowding? Hardly.

Las Vegas was converted to usable land.

The point is... it's overcrowded in places like the photo above, and California, because people choose to live in hubs like LA, Shanghai, Hong Kong, new york.

If you took a picture of Atlanta freeways at 5pm, you could make an argument that the US is overpopulated, when we aren't. Certain cities are more densely populated.... but as a whole... we are far from overpopulated.

The problem is not being able to feed people. It is the byproducts of consumption that is the problem with overpopulation. All the pollution and waste created.

California only has itself to blame. Illegal immigration is condoned there.

And WHY do people choose to live in these crowded hubs? Because that's where the most jobs are.

Not many people want to live isolated , miles from anything especially jobs.....

I understand the appeal of hubs... but the overcrowded part is still.... by choice.

if you don't want to fight freeway traffic... move.

So you believe people can just move and hold no job and survive?? I don't think that's what most people want.

People have to go where the jobs are.

And over crowding/over population is not just a matter of busy freeways

make yourself more marketable. There are plenty of jobs in less crowded areas..... choosing not to move is a choice as much as choosing to move.

Japan has 126 million, in a land area smaller than California, and they are worried about their possible extinction because of the low childbirth rate among young people. :eyepopping:

What worries me is they might figure a war might actually help them cut down on their overpopulation?

Are you just in an argumentative mood?

Fact: People have to go where the jobs are.

Fact: There are LESS JOBS in less populated areas ....probably because there's less people there.

Find a job in a town that doesn't have manufacturing, hospitals, high tech companies, stores, ????

See, if they do then those jobs are filled. ...that's why kids have been "leaving the farm" for ages....to go where the jobs are. IF the jobs are in isolated areas then there'd be more people there and the area wouldn't be isolated , there'd be people all over.

whose fault is it you have such a limited skillset that you are forced to live in a 600 Sq foot studio apartment and commute 1:10 on an overcrowded freeway. There was, once upon a time, in your life, that an economic choice was made that led you to only having economic value in limited locations.

Some economically valuable people also move there to make LOTS of money because there is more money to be made where there are people. Again, though... it's choice

So what is your point about this religious gathering?? These people should be stopped from gathering in such large numbers or do you think that this is indicative of the country outside this building?? What is it?

So what is the dream of you radical leftwing pro abortion socialists/progressives??

We have already killed twice as many Black babies as there are Black people alive in the USA today. If population growth is critical why don't you advocate attacking India and China with neutron bombs that will leave the large cities standing but millions of innocent people dead?? The country people can move to the cities, clean up the bodies and get back to work building you a new iphone. Their will be plenty of Hindus to help you get your computer cleaned up.

Hillary is a cold blooded heartless b***h so she might move that way if you and the liberal horde wants to save the planet by killing the people more humanly than cutting off old people's electricity in the winter and putting so many people on welfare until the system collapses, as spelled out by Cloward–Piven. ?? What is your wish for reducing the population??

yes but we are moving to recycle more and more each year. In China they recycle their sewage into fertilizer and we will do that in the future.

Take a look at the googl maps around large cities and you will find millions of people live in the country side around these towns. I live 30 miles from Austin, Texas and the country is full of people who don't want to live in Austin. Cheap fuel makes it easier to live out of the cities but the liberal are doing their best to make people move to the cities.
