I think its a great idea. We have designated drivers, why not designated defenders? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tdVNT6KdzTQ
For the same reason that relying on police officers to keep you safe from harm is not advised, not even by them.
This kind of thing is rare. Part of what makes the Orlando shooting so shocking is that we haven't had that kind of thing happen before.
If you're going to party and drink and you want protection you can have a friend there that won't drink there and is armed. Or the establishment could have multiple armed guards.
i mean your already going to have a designated driver anyway who wont be drinking so I guess there is no harm in it. You can make him the same person.
Because if you need to designate an armed guard every time you go out for the evening, there is something deeply (*)(*)(*)(*)ed up about our society.
I don't go to bars, or carry for that matter (not old enough). - - - Updated - - - Really? I guess I can use the same argument for those who want to pass gun laws banning AR. If things like this doesn't happen enough to carry or have someone carry in your stead then they aren't happening enough to ban a tool.
Such as violent criminals being repeatedly released back into society where they can do the most harm, regardless of how many felonies they have committed.
When society starts electing community organizers for President or any political office, something deeply is (*)(*)(*)(*)ed up about our society.
I am not in favor, for various divers reasons, 1. I do not like depending on others, for things I need and should do for Myself, or depend on someone else's level of skills or lack thereof. 2. I am My Own Designated Defender.
Because everyone is Constitutionally mandated to be a member of the militia and therefore they have a legal obligation to defend themselves.
I'm just saying since both sides don't want people who are drunk armed why not treat the issue like we do with driving? - - - Updated - - - I agree, but if you're going to drink then you should have a designated defender.
Your designated defenders are the police and the military, so welcome to the dark side. The militia no longer exists.
I have my few drinks and plotz into bed, since I am a few steps away from bed when I have a few drinks anyway.
I don't drink or go to bars and have no need for a designated defender, but it's a great idea. I refuse to go anywhere that I am not allowed to be armed with very few exceptions. Whether designated defenders are allowed in a bar should be up to the bar owner. I'd also like anybody who disarms their patrons to be legally responsible for the security of those patrons. This would cause business owners to increase security or risk an expensive law suit.
