I thought people owned guns because they like them? I've never really understood the protection angle.
Then you've lived a fairly sheltered life. My father was a forensic psychiatrist--meaning he dealt with the criminally insane. After hearing the stories of his patients, everybody with a brain would arm themselves. There are evil people that exist in this world.
Violent crime in the US is so out of control that we need to further limit the rights of the law abiding to buy/possess a firearm. That being the case, it is impossible to argue against the idea that there is a clear legitimate need for a firearm for self-defense.
Yes, it is a novel concept. That is why every single police dept in the US has had their officers have guns on their person for eons. They just like to fondle them I guess.
I think we should solve the problem of crime instead of limiting firearms to civilians. Other countries are doing fine, but the U.S. has got justice wrong.
That's odd. Cops stage walkout over BLM protest at basketball game. Apparently a lot of cops are upset over the Left's continued hate campaign characterizing them as murderous racists. The Left seems to want only cops to be able to carry a weapon in public and the Left is pushing a hate campaign against Cops characterizing them as murderous racists. A campaign so effective that cops are being hunted on the streets of our cities. http://www.startribune.com/minneapo...er-player-comments-warm-up-jerseys/386373171/
How so ? Please elaborate on what you consider "The protection angle" do you reside in the U.S. ? Many non U.S. residents simply do not understand guns as protection from criminals.
A firearm is a great equalizer. If a drugged up 250 pound ,muscle bound, martial arts experienced criminal attempts to attack someone; it's better to have training and a gun to end the situation (vast majority end without a shot being fired), than hoping that pleading with the attacker saves you.
Here is 27 pages to help you "understand" it better. http://www.politicalforum.com/gun-control/438886-2016-what-armed-self-defense-looks-like.html
A friend of mine, a hospital Cop, John, was attacked by a 120 pound guy hyped up on pot laced with Angel dust, John 6'2"weighed over 220 pounds, and this guy lifted him up and threw John into a load bearing concrete wall almost killing him. I am not playing patty cake with anyone, they attack me and I will defend myself. There is a reason why I have credentials and a sidearm.
As far as public spaces go, you may not be able to protect yourself, specifically, but you could protect other people.
Violent crime is so out of control that it is half of what it was in the 90s. Methinks you watch too much TV.
well after I shot a mope who was on parole when he broke my nose after jumping me (along with another mope) in an alley, I sure understand the protection angle
Next time, and I hope there is NEVER a next time, Please shoot the mope before he breaks your nose ! OK ??? Thanks ! Is leetil joke.... lol...
I was walking through an alley carrying groceries that lead to my apartment which was in the back of a shop. The shop's entrance was elevated and there was a porch about 5 feet about the alley. It was a college student environment and I knew there was a couple "utes" up on the porch smoking weed but I figured they were just a couple college kids. When I walked by they jumped down on me-they had ordered a pizza and planned on mugging the pizza guy and taking the pizza and his cash. I was carrying groceries while wearing my college varsity warmup jacket that looked like the pizza company's windbreakers. I had not pizza but I had a SW 469 with real hot PMC JHP rounds. Do you know that a contact hit causes far more damage than say a shot a foot away?
Yes, those were very good rounds, I found out, Colt Lawman MK lll snubby barrel, Pachmayr signature grips. Stock picture of a similar gun. https://www.google.com/search?q=Col...hUB9WMKHcEHCFkQ_AUIBygC#imgrc=FPofpQea6X3kuM:
I know. It's just out of curiosity. Your English is very formal and I was wondering if you studied English professionally or not. If you don't want to answer then that's ok.
