My Friend has a very nice Dog, and when I am too busy to visit, she comes by and visits, she stays a few minutes, then trots off back home, I never had a Dog visit like that, and She seems to really enjoy visiting, almost like a person does.
Sure, why not ? I have a Dog and always have snacks, People do the same thing too more or less, for Tea, Beer, she really makes a big fuss over me whether I have snacks or not, her Owner is getting quite Jealous too.
Lol! I'm watching a show right now on Animal Planet called "Bad Dog," and this dog has his own wing of the house with special flooring that he likes and his own shower with hot and cold water. He has a doggy door that goes out into his own garden too. That dog is living better than me!
That's cool.My dog was apparently the "Leader of the pack" His friends would come over and ask if he could come out and play.
Or coffee! - - - Updated - - - I have a cat that I call Orange Peel who comes by to visit every once in a while. I don't know who owns him but he is obviously well fed (he's kind of fat), so someone owns him. I can't let him in my house though because my rabbit would totally freak.
My neighbor has a friend come over who has a little Westie that will come over and say hi briefly whenever I'm outside. Soooo cute. She always has on a little dress and a hair bow or barrette.
I couldn't believe it when I first read that some doggy people buy their 4-legged friends bloody Easter eggs of all things! Probably explains why there are so many fat dogs around - and fat owners!
A barrette is something girls use in their hair. Or little doggies that have hair! Lol! The dog doesn't seem to mind wearing a dress and barrettes or hair ribbons. It's cute, IMO.
I grew up far enough out in the country that our dogs roamed a lot. One of our dogs and a neighbors became good friends over the course of several years. Our dog died unexpectedly, and the neighbors dog kept coming over looking for him. Once she realized he was gone for good she would come over at the same time every day and howl/cry for about and hour. That went on for about two weeks. She grieved with us.
Well my doggy visitor was sent to another home, it seems it's owner was jealous of her pet spending so much time visiting me, her dog would follow me around, well behaved, heeling and obeying commands, once, she even helped me retrieve a neighbors 2 runaway dogs, I really miss her, it has me pretty much bummed out. She was such a sweet natured nice doggy. I never had a dog take such an interest in being friends before.
Awww. Do you have any pets of your own? - - - Updated - - - You should think about getting a dog for yourself. Pets are great. They make you happy and they make you smile even when you're down.
I still have Patrick McGee, but Sora was so different and so really smart, she really wanted to be around me, even Patrick ignores me, she voluntarily visited me, it was not a trained response, it gives credence to a higher form of intellect. Or reincarnation.....
As think I said earlier in the thread - I like dogs but I'm not obsessed by them. Trouble is that the more fond of them you become, the harder it is to deal with when 'the fateful day' arrives. I had to return my first Bruno to RAF Netheravon (where we first met as new recruits to the RAF!) when I was posted to Gibraltar; I left him in one of the compounds - a fenced area enclosing a kennel - and although I'd intended to not look back, I did, and he was watching me until we were out of sight to each other. My second Bruno (coincidental) was coming to the end of his 10-year tour of duty in Gib., and at the end of my own 2-year tour of duty, age and the prolonged exposure to the climate had worn him out, so I had the unenviable task of putting him down. That was sad too, because I had to feed him the chunk of meat with 'the tablet' inside and watch him fade away. And as if that wasn't enough, I then had to take him to the municipal incinerator. I felt as if I'd betrayed a true friend. In fact I said to myself as I did the deed 'Goodbye old friend.'
I don't about reincarnation, but I think all dogs have their own personalities. Some are just more friendly than others. Some may take to certain people for some reason.
I agree in a way. The only pet I have is a rabbit, and I will even feel sad when he dies some day. I can't imagine how I would feel about having to put my dog to sleep. Why doesn't the vet take care of disposal of the body? I don't know if you are in America or not, but here the vet will usually dispose of the body. It's optional I imagine. You can probably dispose of the body yourself if you want to, but they definitely do get rid of the body for you. I have had to put cats down before, and they did dispose of the bodies.
I'm English - see my location top right? Service life is different to civilian; a big part of our initial training was the physiological care of our charge, as well as its day-to-day welfare, and entirely the handlers' responsibility for the duration of 'ownership', ie no vet was ever involved unless surgery was needed.
