My job for the last 23 years is just seven miles down one street. No freeways. I wouldn't want to work from home. Too many distractions.
Update! Ilhan Omar offers answers to questions about her marital history Ilhan Omar, whose victory in a Minneapolis DFL primary last week means she likely will become the nations first Somali-American legislator, released a statement Wednesday that sought to clear up questions about her marital history. Omar married Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009 in Hennepin County, but she identifies a different man, Ahmed Hirsi, as her husband in campaign literature. The discrepancy led to a raft of speculation on conservative news and websites beginning with a popular site called Power Line about whether she had married Elmi solely to help him with his immigration status and whether he may have been a relative, perhaps even her brother. According to her statement, although Omar never was legally married to Hirsi, they had an Islamic marriage that ended in 2008 when they reached an impasse in our life together. She then met and married Elmi, a British citizen, in 2009, according to the statement. That relationship ended, and Elmi has moved back to England. Omar said she is in the process of legally divorcing him. Insinuations that Ahmed Nur Said Elmi is my brother are absurd and offensive, she said. Omar said that she reconciled with Hirsi in 2011 and that they are together today, raising their three children. Interestingly, something about her Republican opponent in the race. Earlier on Wednesday, Omars Republican opponent for the House District 60B seat, Abdimalik Askar, criticized her initial response to what Askar called a serious accusation about her marriage history. In a statement, Askar said he and the districts constituents would simply like a clear nonpolitical answer about the allegations. So her Republican opponent in the race is Somali-American too.
Let's take bets on what the next "love is love" tolerance we'll all be forced to accept is: incest or pedophilia. I'd say it breaks even chances either way.
Except that is always conservatives that actually do it and then complain that Democrats and liberals do it. Self delusion.
It is more insidious than that. Instead of crying racism they insert race into almost every discussion. Like this one and then claim how Democrats keep crying racism. You guys need a new playbook. This one is played out.
Yea except that's not actually what played out here. See ArmySoldier was just making a cheeky jab about your post parodying the very real way that Democrats cry racist on a consistent basis and our subsequent collective replies supported that. Plus, come on man, we've both been on this forum for about the same amount of time and we both know damn well that crying racist here (as in real life) is something that Democrats do regualy. It occurs so often to the point that the phenomenon has achieved wide spread meme status.
It is not proof to me of anything except a local political campaign, that is having problems answering some questions involving potential immigration fraud and coming up with some pertinent marriage and divorce documentation. That has nothing to do with Muslim immigration or assimilation that would not equally apply to French, Thai, Mexican or Australian immigrants. Potential mmigration fraud is not an Islamic cultural phenomena. Its an international one.
That is complete crap. More often then not I find that conservative posters are far more likely to insert race into any discussion whether it belongs there or not. Most of the time when I see people call out racism it is because the posts are racist. If you have been active on this board as long as I have then you have seen from time to time we get inundated with storm front posts like is occurring on this board right now. In addition there are quite a number of conservative posters on this board who are known racists and do not hesitate to insert their hat into threads. Also I always find it hilarious that when called out on crap conservative posters always fall back on the "I was joking" tired line. Whether joking or not race was inserted into this thread by a conservative poster and not by a liberal poster or a Democrat.
Deleted the first paragraph because it contained ridiculous storm front reference. But you don't think he was joking? Seems like a pretty obvious wise crack to me.
