I don't know if I buy that. Like you said, most people find Beyonce attractive, but you said you didn't find her attractive. That kind of blows your theory out of the water. Lol.

It doesn't though. By your own admission, beauty is not universal. Lol. What is attractive to one (perhaps a big giant arse) isn't going to be attractive to another. I've also heard men say that they hated Angelina Jolie's "fish lips." :D

At least we can agree that chaotic asymetry is universally (physically) unattractive?

I have passed up sex with perfect 10's (by my subjective assessment) because while they were physically hot they were psychologically shallow and petty. I am the only man I know who has passed up sex with hot women. The point I am trying to make is that personality carries a lot of weight with some.

I remember back in the 80's seeing an average looking guy with a perfect 10 of a woman, and I asked myself what did he have that I did not? I could not answer the question at the time but I now understand that he likely had a great personality and was likely confident while I was at the time the complete opposite.

To me beauty is an amalgam of the physical and the psychological.

I know. I was trying to make a point with Mr. Ritter. :) If you read further to my other posts, you will see.

Why do you think Kim Kardashian is so popular? So, I would say that some find "asymmetry" to be quite attractive. Lol.

I would say I have brittle hair that over time it has thinned. Despite this I find that people tend to underestimate my age by as many as 15 years as I have next to no grey in my hair and do not seem to look my age, that being 51. 25 years ago I has a thick lions mane but was a shy dork which was a massive turn off to women. Today I am older, wiser, and much more confident which made dating a few years ago easy in terms of attracting women.

I think psychology is part of the equation when it comes to assessing beauty as I have met some ugly beautiful people if you get my drift.

No idea. Does she really have an asymetric face?

Some men think K.Kardashian is attractive, I do not. Some men think Taylor Swift is unattractive, I don't. When all comes around, physical beauty, generally speaking, is a mathematic matter and therefore can be said to be universal.

What was it I said about signs of youth? ;)

What was it I said about "masculinity"(i.e. not being shy and reclusive)? ;)

Physically, no one can be "ugly beautiful" this is only possible once you get to know them; psychology.

Her butt is completely asymmetric with the rest of her body. Lol. It's just freakish looking, IMO.

You are young yet and have a lot to learn. :D

No I meant it's sad that women are judged almost solely on their physical appearance. Powerful women like Hillary Clinton and Oprah are still unattractive. While someone average looking but successful like Steve Jobs might be attractive to women. The media also obsesses over women's clothing and make up.

Agree 1000%. But her face does not seem to be out of proportion (is it even real?). Anyways, nothing about her is appealing to me.

Dontchu pull that one on me! :D

A lot of young men just want some one pretty to mate with that is physically attractive. Playboy bimbo type.
Most women need more than looks for a long lasting relationship. Funny, smart, good conversation, etc. even if the man is not typical handsome type their personality can be attractive. However, I would say that a lot of women are gold diggers, although many more women now are working and making more than men.

I think it is the RARE woman who can marry a man for money solely. This plays into my point perfectly though. Just because someone is beautiful on the outside, doesn't mean they are beautiful on the inside, and why I mentioned earlier in this thread how sometimes, a person who looks beautiful to you initially, may become less and less attractive the more you know about them. A lot of rich men are probably too busy to have a meaningful relationship, so a trophy woman on their arm is all they need.

Part of it is cultural. But the rest is universal. And what makes someone beautiful is having average features. So the person with the most average facial features is the most beautiful.

Obviously, women are slightly more shallow because they can afford to be and, maybe, even have to be. They have the final say and the power of rejecting a man(as it is socially expected for the man "to make the move"). For her there will always be plenty of alternatives. :p

Men are a lot sleazier though. Lol.

That doesn't make a person shallow. Shallow is when you judge a person SOLELY on their outside appearance. If a woman rejects a man, it is because he doesn't have what she wants in a man.

So Mr. Ritter . . . you've kind of killed your own point wherein many men probably find Kim Kardashian physically attractive (or she wouldn't be as popular as she is), but at the same time there are many who do not find her physically attractive. That kind of blows your "good looks are universal" theory. ;)

That would be the literal definition, yes and in that sense shallowness is something negative.

Everyone should be shallow in the sense they should have self-respect.

How is self respect shallow? Lol. This makes very little sense to me.

    Q:
What does it mean when someone calls you shallow?
    A:
    QUICK ANSWER
Calling someone shallow is actually saying the person lacks depth, tending to look at situations superficially. To judge a person based solely on physical appearance is to show little depth of character, or to appear shallow. CONTINUE READING

    FULL ANSWER
Shallow people are described as being vain and focused on physical perception. Their perception of life is based mostly on beauty, property or money. The movie "Shallow Hal" starring Jack Black portrays an example of a shallow man who soon is forced to realize that there is more to the women he encounters than how they may first outwardly appear to him. His perception of them is reversed so he can focus on what is inside rather than their physical characteristics.

But. But. But. Generally speaking, a symetric face is more likely to be, universally, ranked as beautiful than the opposite.

Women also appear more attractive while they are ovulating to attract a mate. Being healthy also makes you more attractive by having glowing skin and healthy hair. Being physically fit is also very attractive now and so is being slim. Curves on women and muscles on men are attractive but too much is not. Facial appearance is most important. Symmetry, youthfulness, smiling, nice teeth. Most people can agree on a beautiful person. However, ugly people can have beautiful personalities and beautiful people can have awful personalities. Just look at celebrities and models.

Well, that's not always the case either. I've heard some guys say that the most important thing on a woman to them is their breast size.

I don't know if we can say that celebrities or models have "awful" personalities if we don't really know them personally. :)
