The story itself is funny, but spiders that rise up in anger? And hiss?? No way could I live in a country with them! Relatives who went to Disneyworld and rented a bungalow with a pool told me about the spiders they saw - gigantic, fearless (at least ours run away!), and eyes on stalks which swivelled as the spiders watched them walk by. I know ours are harmless but for some reason I'm seriously frightened of them. And yet I wouldn't dream of killing one. With the aid of a Pyrex bowl and a bit of cardboard I capture them and chuck 'em out of the window. Your cat sounds like some character.
I have not before or since ever seen a spider do this and hope I never will. I've been told it's possible but rare, thankfully. I live on the East Coast of the USA, and not in the Amazon Rainforest, btw. We're really not supposed to even have that poisonous a snake where I am.
Yes, I did! I had a Siamese cat who died. She [the cat was a female cat] had the habit, after I went sleep, to jump on an armchair where she slept. Believe it or not, but after her death I kept on hearing the noise she made jumping on that armchair ... and for weeks ...
I heard there are lots of spiders in the U.K. as of late, infestations of spiders that bite and the bite needs medical attention, here in the U.S. we have the brown recluse, and it's bite does necrotize progressively needing surgical resection.
Thank You! Yes I do hear stories of departed cats, haunting. Yet I have not heard on story of departed dogs haunting. Lately, I feel the Siamese brothers who passed at age 17, 8 months apart, less and less. Izzy, the little, dominant one passed first and would appear. Solly, the big one who was subordinate hung around a lot and now I don't feel him anymore since a dream. Solly would sleep with me, curled up at the belly/waist area, when Izzy was alive Solly would do so after Izzy took my first 10 minutes. And if Izzy was gone as I went to bed and appeared, Solly bailed. After Izzy, When I would come to bed Solly would vocalize over and over until I settled down and he did too. Now, I do not dream, not that I remember. But, my dream was I slept and felt a long arm over my shoulder. I woke in my dream and holding very still felt the arm was hairy, soft like Solly's and stroked it down to a paw. Examining the paw by touch, it was a cat's paw with retractable claws and built like Solly who had big ones. Since then I do not feel Solly and rarely Izzy. Maybe they will visit more nearer the Winter Solstice. I mentioned above I have had an Abyssinian who haunted so much, guests would feel her as if she jumped on their leg. So I know it ain't just me. Moi
Well as I live in an apartment 8 floors up it doesn't affect me because they can't reach the top button in the lift! ** And if they ever do think of a way of reaching the top button they won't have enough strength to press it. ** 'elevator' to you?
I've had a lifelong love of cats. I have a big male shorthair tabby right now. When he's happy to see me, he does the roley poley on the floor. He rolls over one way and looks at me, and then rolls over to the other side, over and over. He's a Fancy Feast addict. He has dry food he can graze on, but he loves the spoonful of Fancy Feast that he gets when we wake up in the morning and exactly at 5 pm. Oh yes, he knows when it's 5 pm! At exactly 5 pm, he'll start meowing at me, rubbing on me, etc. If I'm sitting at my desk trying to ignore him, he'll jump up on my lap and walk up my chest and stick his face right in my face. Other tactics include gently nipping my fingers or toes and making a complete pest of himself until he gets his spoonful of Fancy Feast. I sleep on my back, and he likes to curl up right in between my knees, and sleeps there all night. He's on my lap right now, purring like crazy, as I type this. He doesn't tolerate bugs of any sort in the house, and he loves to hang out on the back yard lawn watching for his next bug victim. Just took this ...
Glad to give ya a smile. I've had many cats during my life. They are all different. They all have their own little individualistic characteristics. If you look at the picture, you can see that one of his ears is sort turned cockeyed. He does that when he's contented and purring. Notice also that claw sticking out of one his toes. That's because he sort of flexes them in an out when he gets on me and starts purring. That claw against my shirt can easily poke through to my skin, and I have to lift the whole paw away and try to move it to my belt line so it can't poke through. Of course, he has no clue, and so he'll move it back where it was, and I may have to move it away multiple times. He's a big male, but he's really a big baby, truth be known. He's back on my lap, purring, as I write this, with his right ear turned cockeyed ....
He sounds like a real character, but as you say - aren't they all! After we lost our most recent one (Pip - she got a UTI and was peeing all over the place, not least down the floor outlets of the central heating system . . . she obviously thought they were a kind of litter tray, but always tried not to go on the floor, bless her?), the family grief of having her put to sleep made me resolve not to have another one. That was all some years ago when we lived in a very rural area, so she had a really good life: she used to bring critters (as you call 'em) home, such as dormice and voles - I would go outside in the morning and find nothing left of them except the gall bladder - she'd eaten everything else! Now that I live in an apartment it wouldn't be fair not to let a new one roam - and I'm certainly not gonna put a leash on one and take it for a walk!!
