The cold war was deterred because of nuclear weapons. Both sides knew the other side would do just as much damage and ruin the world. Thus solidifying my point from earlier.
& WHO be those State actors, pray tell ? Iraq, Syria, Libya or maybe the Russki's ? OH YEAH ! - They are our friends and allies the Saudi's, Qatar etc .............................................. NOT to mention the CIA What a dirty Obscene Joke American foreign policy has become .............. and the wonder is, that there are still puppets here who try to defend it .
At the time we were the only country with nukes. Not so anymore. 1 nuke now will lead to destruction of the world. Because there will be retaliation. No ifs, ands, or buts.
Do you think, if we leave Europe, and Russia or other decides to invade Europe, we'll send nukes and start a nuclear war? I sure hope not.
If we had stayed out of it there never would have been 9/11, two wars in Iraq and war in Afghanistan. Obama and the neocons are now trying to do exactly the same thing in Syria, trying to block Russia eliminating the insurgent radicals hoping to turn it also into perpetual war in which we empower the radicals, run off Russia and then fight the Muslim radicals we organized, armed and protected.
So, no need for US troops or bases in Europe? Good, then we should bring em home. Helps with my concern.
If Obama does manage to start a war with Russia in the remaining time he has left before leaving office, and it turns nuclear, blowing Saudi Arabia & Qatar off the face of the Earth should be a primary target for the Russians if they care about stopping international terrorism.
Here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet–Japanese_War_(1945) - - - Updated - - - Absolutely; and you can take your NSA spies out of England as well while you're at it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_Menwith_Hill
You clearly didn't bother to read the link. Especially this bit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet–Japanese_War_(1945)#Importance_and_consequences The fourth paragraph might be of interest.
It still doesn't change the fact that the war with Japan was 99% done by the time the Soviets conducted their genocidal land grab.
You can quibble, but the fact remains that the USSR was pleaded with at Yalta to open a front against Japan. There was a good reason-it would stretch Japan's military beyond its ability to sustain itself. There was no single reason for Japan's capitulation, and the timing of the USSR invasion was agreed between the Allied powers months before the bombs.
Nukes are enough to basically end most of mankind. So yeah, they're enough if one wants to use them. I however, never want them used.
I don't think Russia's going to try and takeover Europe like the British are so afraid of. - - - Updated - - - Yep the threat of nukes ending the world is the deterrent itself
Those Islamic countries that protect terrorists can't afford the terrorists to get too out of control. Then they won't get money from the West...
Is it? We leave Europe and some country decides to invade. We'd launch a nuke attack? Risking all out nuclear war? Is that what you think? Is that what you want?
indeed, nukes give you one option: annihilate everyone. Is that an appropriate response to a minor provocation? No. What does this mean then? That with only nukes at your disposal, you are unable to respond to minor provocations with anything less than total annihilation of everyone. This means, you are unable to respond, because you are not an idiot who would kill everyone over a minor provocation. This is why you need conventional strength, so you have more options. options appropriate for smaller things, which do not end in mutual destruction. otherwise.. things get very dangerous very quickly. this is the reason nuclear armed countries still have conventional militaries. No, nukes are not enough. just think about it... people who reason like you should never be in command of nukes, or any military for that matter... yes, if someone invades your ally, you respond with nukes, which leads to mutual destruction. This means that no one will invade your allies, so you will never need to use nukes. It is funny: by telling everyone you are prepared to use nukes, you will assure they will never be used. On the contrary, by saying things like you do, you are inviting people to provoke you, since they know you will never use nukes anyways, so they're no deterrance. People who reason like you, are people who can be bullied into submission.
I think everyone's being super overdramatic because a non-US ally had a territory almost unanimously vote to leave it, for Russia. For some reason the left wing feels the need to sanction Russia for that. Other than that, there's nothing going on. Everyone needs to sack up.
