Posters like jrr777, and there are many here in this subforum, do not want to learn about what atheism actually is. They are addicted to their caricatures and strawman fallacies. Their behavior demonstrates duplicity.
Ahhh, but Goomba has special access, special knowledge, special dispensation...he's really really quite special, at least according to Goomba. Isn't is amazing what childhood religious indoctrination and decades of related peer pressure can do to the human brain?
I never said I could. Atheists meanwhile cannot demonstrate in any way that the material world is all that exists. - - - Updated - - - Projection much? - - - Updated - - - How exactly are those two statements one and the same?
Strawman; I never claimed that atheists think we can know everything. Rather, atheists believe that ANYTHING that can be known can ONLY be known through science and the physical senses. This is a faith-based belief, as they cannot prove it to be the case.
I don't suppose you are bright enough to understand the difference between "Knowing" a thing and "Believing" a thing are you? See...when a thing can be shown to be truth through tangible and agreed upon testing it is more than simple thinking about it.
For the umpteenth time, why do you think that EVERYTHING that can be known can ONLY be known through the scientific method? I don't think I can simplify the question any further....
Notice the disingenuousness in this post. Goomba consistently baldly asserts his personal religion, cosmology and metaphysics, calling it "truth", among other things. Yet he admits he cannot [demonstrate in any way that anything exists beyond the material world]. The cognitive dissonance must be strong in this one. And here he attempts to shift the burden of proof (once again). It is Goomba who makes the positive claims that (his personal) sky fairies exist, etc. He pretends to be clever, which, no doubt, feeds his need to feel special.
As an individual Atheist I do indeed require tangible and verified data to accept a thing as real. If for some reason you find that strange the problem here is you and the decision to ignore actual reality in favor of imagined realities. There is no need to get angry.
But I never argued that I can prove it. Atheists however believe they KNOW for a fact that nothing exists besides the material world, and strut around as if this is an absolute truth. Get outta' here! If you want to make it personal and spout infantile stereotypes, I can do the same: I suppose you're just another atheist whose miserable and angry at God (probably had a lousy life- two divorces?) and can't help himself from demonstrating his intellectual vanity.
Great, I'm glad you agree with my thesis that atheists hold the unsubstantiated belief that everything that can possibly be known can only be known through science. As I said, atheism is yet another self-fulfilling belief system. Thank you for your time, sir!
You will obviously believe whatever you want...but at least please try to understand that I am not Atheists.
So does this mean that you don't hold the unsubstantiated belief that everything that can possibly be known can only be known bough science? Because you just said you did several posts above.
No...it does not....It means that I am not "Atheists". And I did not state that, unfortunately your mind does not seem capable of grasping complex concepts. Have A Nice Day
I'm highly cognizant of the fact that everyone is unique, including individual atheists. But you cannot deny that all atheists believe in the unsubstantiated idea that everything that can possibly exist can only be known through science. That was my point from the beginning.
All-knowing Tecoyah has dismissed me. My life is over! - - - Updated - - - All-knowing Tecoyah has dismissed me. My life is over!
That's absolutely correct. But so what? You claim to know all about things you claim others cannot know and you claim to have special access to metaphysical constructs of which you claim are reality. For folks, like myself, that require evidence for claims such as yours, I would hope you can realize that the empirical and relevant evidence concerning your claims leads to the conclusion that your claims come from your imagination, and that other empirical evidence strongly correlates with the conclusion that you are an indoctrinated theist, infected with a particularly virulent sky fairy virus. Another strawman fallacy, with a side salad of projection. You truly are a fallacy addict. You're not very good at this. Keep pretending though. It's quite entertaining, at least until you start repeating your limited repertoire of material. - - - Updated - - - It is about time to demote Goomba to third-person references only.
What a joke that place is. One of its first moves it to try to show that atheism is JUST A LACK OF BELIEF IN A GOD...and it tries to use "knowing what theism" is to show what atheism is. Unfortunately for the person who wrote that garbage...atheism came first. Atheism became part of the English language BEFORE theism...so could not have derived the way the person is pretending it did. - - - Updated - - - No, I most assuredly have not.
