His appointments are definitely a mixed bag for me. His education secretary seems like a terrible choice. But then he has some good ones also. Overall, I think they'll do well. As for Trump himself, I expect more stupid speeches from him, but I really don't know what to expect in terms of action. He's certainly promised action, and he said some wacky things in his inaugural speech, like that stuff about giving power back to us, which all has me wondering just what to expect. How can he do what he says? Doesn't his election prove that we have power? He never offers anything in the way of substance, and this worries me.
I wonder why the Clinton Foundation is drying up! One would think with the extra free time that hill and bill would be helping poor kiddies all over the world ,( they are so compasionate) yet million dollar donations from foreign leaders have stopped. Why?
Yeah, I don't know what to expect for his Supreme Court appointments, but from what I've seen I don't have too much hope that they'll be good choices. He does seem to favor cronyism and appointing some out-there characters. Then again, if his picks are not of a progressive mindset, and we can confident that they won't be, then I suppose we can at least expect to see constitutional rights and restrictions upheld. Progressives will hate it, but then they want change where it's often just not needed. Did we really need gay marriage, for instance? To me, it's far from a priority. That's the good I see in Trump and his administration - we should have much better priorities, including among his appointments.
What he said in his inaugural speech was that everything is terrible but Trump will save us. Add Messiah Complex to Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
his speech today was great, his cabinet not so great, it depends when you ask him or maybe who he last talked too time will tell, for all of our sakes lets hope the billionaire bully surprises us
Well the Trump Foundation was shut down as a corrupt fraud so in comparison the Clinton Foundation looks pretty solid. But my guess is no money is going to flow to the US since we now know that Russia has bought the government lock stock and barrel.
the voters picked Hillary, Trump only won cause of the electoral college that said, the election is over, Trump won, time to move on .
At least we're finally past all the promises and on to the action phase, eh? We'll see what he actually does. I expect train wrecks ahead. - - - Updated - - - Must have been a vast conservative conspiracy to keep the liberals down.
At last, America has got an Alpha Male in charge.. Dictionary- "An alpha male is the dominant male in a community or group. Zoologists and related scientists typically use the term to describe top-ranking male animals, but people also apply it to human beings, typically referring to adult men rather than boys. In either case, an animal or person with this label usually is an excellent leader who is well-respected or feared, and who receives social privileges, such as better access to food or more attention from potential mates." "America is like a giant boiler. Once lit, there is no limit to the power it can generate"- Winston Churchill
I think he will be okay, not bad and not great just okay, I suspect he will have a hard foreign policy on the areas of national defense and trade but its time we take on China for a change we are a superpower its time we act like one and reign them in some. As for terrorism lets get those bastards properly we are more than capable of showing the terrorists what true terror is, so we need a President who will take the gloves off and hit back.
The electoral college was put in place for a reason, it gives all the states a voice in who is elected, not the most populous areas. It is fair and only seems unfair to the political party that lost the election and wants to whine awhile. Maybe the squeaky wheel won't get the oil, so to speak.
Conservative George Will: Trump Delivered The Most Dreadful Inaugural Address in History: George Will has already written one of the harshest takes on President Trumps inaugural address today, calling it the most dreadful one in history. Will, whose contract with Fox lapsed at the end of 2016, wrote in his column today that Trump proved that something dystopian can be strangely exhilarating: In what should have been a civic liturgy serving national unity and confidence, he vindicated his severest critics by serving up reheated campaign rhetoric about rusted out factories scattered like tombstones across the landscape and an education system producing students deprived of all knowledge. Yes, all. But cheer up, because the carnage will vanish if we follow two simple rules: Buy American and hire American. Simple is the right word. Will left the Republican party over Trump and was very critical of him throughout the election. He ended his column by quoting words of James Madisons he felt were particularly relevant today: Enlightened statesmen will not always be at the helm. http://www.mediaite.com/online/geor...e-most-dreadful-inaugural-address-in-history/
George Will was a vocal anti-trumper in 2016. He made several very controversial remarks. He's long been discredited in such matters.
I like and respect women. Uneasy with misogynists like Trump. I like my fellow humans, all kinds, and married a woman of Spanish descent. Uneasy with racists like Trump I've been a wage-slave, felt exploited. Uneasy with greedy capitalist pigs like Trump. I've been injured in anti-war rioting. Uneasy with militarists, of which there are many in Trump's cabinet. I was a working (part-time) grad (full-time) student on GI Bill, had to struggle for everything I got. Uneasy with silver-spoon elite. Uneasy, suspicious, anxious.
Aggressive nationalism - Trump. Racism - Trump. Suppression of environmentalism - Trump. Desire to eliminate health care for, and to tax, the poor. Dictatorial. And fascism, fascism, fascism. I know what the term means.
Critics here were saying that Trump has made a huge blunder in making so many promises - the usual is to underpromise and over deliver. We are already seeing disillusion follow Trump. There will continue to be a cadre who will fervently believe he could do no wrong but there is also a larger group that will rapidly drop out as thier pet project is either put on hold or not undertaken
Many right wingers are a hate cult who, like Scientology and Heaven's Gate, believe that their "messianic" leader can do no wrong. In the end, everybody loses because of such deluded thinking.
how would you be in a position to make such a claim? - - - Updated - - - some of those voting are not American Citizens and don't live in the USA. I find that hilarious
Agreed - the cult also believes that they are victims and that it is the "liberals" who are victimising them. That is a great concern because in that lies justification for vilification and worse - - - Updated - - - WE are just keeping watch, tallying the more outrageous (*)(*)(*)(*)e and waiting Congress will march him out of office on a charge - he will not see the full four years
