In case of a military conflict, which is when mutual defense kicks in, Nimitz class carriers will be at NATOs disposal. So will the National Guard. If there is no military conflict, the existence of these Nimitz carriers is a part of the deterrent contributing to the prevention of countries like Russia from attacking and invading NATO members.

When one member of a mutual defense alliance possesses incredible military power, the idea that only part of that power should be counted towards the alliance's combined deterrent and defense capabilities does not seem to make much sense.

What is Merkel's approval rating with the Germans because of the refugees she is allowing to enter Germany? Why are we reading such horrible things about German women being afraid to walk down streets, that at one time was safe, without someone with her? I didn't mention Muslims you did,how many of the refugees are Sunni? How much has the crime rate in Germany expanded since Merkel took in all the refugees?

It would be interesting to hear what someone living in Germany has to say, not associated with a news organization. How has your life changed? Do you live near the refugee settlements?

I really don't see why trump needs to see the queen. What is the purpose of it? I don't see how she is relevant to anything. I hired trump to do a job not to visit an antiquated piece of facade.

And this is the reason, why the costs for them are full inside the account here?
Fact is that their primary reason is that the US has many other involvements and interests where they serve in majority for.
Anyway ... there is also the question if the high US budget is really necessary and can't be reduced too ... or not?

True, but that does not change the fact that the entire US military power counts toward the NATOs combined defense and deterrent capabilities. Putin takes every single Nimitz carrier into account when considering whether to invade Latvia, don't you think? He does not think like, who cares about Nimitz carriers, they won't be used if I invade Europe :)

    Trump's on it :)

this clearly shows that you read the wrong BS media issues at least. Yes, there are cases of criminality done by refugees of course and anyone who denied it or plays it down, is a fool of course.
But the problem is at least that the righty BS press is exaggerating like mad things and point out single cases and explain that this is general situation ... what is BS.

My life has not changed at all and of course I have also critics against Merkel and how the refugee issue is handled by her. she underestimated the complete problem in many things and there many things which must be improved.
The case of Anis Amri - the terrorist of Berlin has for example nothing to do with this refugee wave! he enters Europe far before the wave came and he is a very good example where the security agencies and authorities totally failed to do their job proper. It also shows a longer known problem with refugees from North Africa which no one tried to solve really ... until now.
(BTW ... Non of the North African States as Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria where many terrorist came from is on the list of Trump ... strange or not?)

But in general I know no women which is more afraid to walk in the late on streets as before in general.
And the crime rate in general is not higher die to refugees, in many things lower as in the past even with refugees! Majority of Germans feel un-safer as a new statistic shows, but where in majority: To become victim of cyber criminality and not of physical attack!

It's a bloody joke. British military is degraded, British economy is in a terrible shape, British pound has fallen since to the lowest level since I can remember etc...and somehow Americans are supposed to be weary of our empty childish threats? WTF is wrong with you people, if anyone needs anyone in this moment it is US needing the USA. The way I see it, Muslims appeasers, apologetics and lovers completely lost the touch with the real world around them.

I think that is what the radical Left is afraid of. The US has always been a trendsetter. If we voted Trump in, what is to stop the UK from following suit? Then the Left would become less powerful, and so they will lie, cheat or steal to make sure that Trump is not a success or become obsolete trying. I'm rooting for the latter option.

Of course are by opponents always all things counted and so Putin even counts the US bases in Asia too, which have nothing to do with NATO and European theatre!
On the other hand showed the Gulf War of 1991 that NATO troops of US can quickly removed too. A complete Corps with several full divisions inside was transferred from Germany to Saudi Arabia!

The general question is at least if all can be counted or not … and in my opinion do only these things count who serve in peacetime for NATO issues only and nothing else, because in a full scale war is of course everything mobilized and all reserves thrown in.
Look, for example is currently the 2nd Cavalry with their Stryker’s in Europe based and so being part of NATO engagement of the US and all costs of them can be counted of course.
Let us say that they go next year back to the US and for them the 3rd Cavalry goes to Europe, then the costs of the 2nd Cavalry are not further something of NATO, but the costs of 3rd Cavalry become sich costs.

Would be the first Republican President since many decades who reduces US military in number and so in costs… we will see!

The majority of the American Electorate didn't like Hillary either. Neither of them got a "majority" of the votes.

The simple fact that the US spends more money on its military than all other NATO countries, China and Russia combined means that the US automatically protects Europe? That military budget is pure insanity to me and just shows how mad some people in Washington really are. The only accurate thing would be to look at details as to where that US money is actually spent. Is it all spent on Europe's defense? Hardly. There are studies that show that the Iraq war and having US military stationed in the country cost 400 million Dollars every day. This has nothing to do with protecting Europe.
The numbers do not show how much exactly the US pays for Europe's defense, just because Washington spends almost 1,8 billion Dollars on its military every day doesn't mean it spends 90% of this sum or more on Europe's defense.

I live in Germany and have discussed this many times on this forum and it has turned out to be rather hopeless.
You yanks seem to be fine with breitbart, gatestone, fox, the British express.co.uk and daily mail as reliable sources. Let's add the Donald burping something a microphone to that list.

The funny thing is that no matter what I say, it's completely ignored - cognitive dissonance big time.
It doesn't matter that I live here. It doesn't matter that I follow the political debates and that I'm familiar with the political landscape.
It doesn't matter that I follow the news and read papers. It doesn't matter that I read things that are not fully covered by the mainstream media. It doesn't matter that I can read these things in German and English.
All that means nothing and some idiot (nothing personal, just based on my experience) sitting in front of his/her computer 5,000 miles away somewhere between NY and LA seriously claims to know better because (s)he has watched some youtube videos or read some utter crap on said websites.

User Mandelus from Cologne has already answered quite a few things.
Has my life changed? No. I have met one Kurd (former English teacher from Mossul), one Syrian father of two though and I see small groups of people from the Balkans every Friday on my way to work and I'm still alive.
Are immigrants/refugees more criminal than Germans? All studies I've read say no (I'm counting the seconds for some moron to say, "it's all doctored by the government and the MSM to keep you blind").
BTW, there were no data available when Donald Duck claimed that crime had increased dramatically, think about it for a second: there were no data available and the interior ministry here had just started collecting data. How did he know? What kind of source did he have? He just makes a claim and millions buy it without asking even the most simple questions? Rather sheepish to me. Then you read folks on this forum saying they had never heard Trump lying. There must be a parallel universe somewhere.
    Merkel's approval ratings:
    Feb 2016: 46%
    Nov 2016: 55%.
Jan (second half) 2017: 44%, 41% for social democratic candidate Martin Schulz.
    http://www.forschungsgruppe.de/Aktuelles/Politbarometer/ German skills needed.

I'm in no way associated wth any media or news organisation.

Some people respect the Queen in the same passion as Americans are in love with President Trump.

But this topic was about a petition not the reenactment of the British\American colony wars.

Very high emotions. It will calm down and cooler heads will prevail.

Not moaning at all. In fact I welcome a snub from royalty. Trump has a great relationship with the political leadership of UK and that's what counts. If I was Trump I'd say I'm really not interested in Buckingham palace or the people in it

Awww. It is special you have all these warm feelings for President Trump. To protect him like this. But he can take care of himself.

Snub from Royalty. You think you be allowed past the gates? :clapping:

I have warm feelings for the current political leader of the UK and for the people who voted for BREXIT. I think the royalty thing is cute if not a bit pathetic and I really don't think any American president needs to play that ring kissing game

Needless to say, individual Americans are free to share your low opinion of this petition (and the people who support it), but what's important is that President Trump made it clear in his recent meeting with Prime Minister May that he has every intention of forging closer, friendlier and more mutually beneficial ties with your country. It's clear to me that he wants to make your exit from the EU as painless as possible, too.

I wouldn't let this little family squabble distract you from that. Many of us may not care for the opinions of your Leftists, but that doesn't mean we aren't looking forward to improved relations between our countries.

PS. When our President goes to meet your Queen, you can expect him to behave in a manner that is a distinct improvement from the boorish behavior of his predecessor.

Yes I agree. But it is protocol.

Besides this has nothing to do with President Trump or the UK Royalty. The petition was started by British/American liberals fishing for attention and they used a wide net. And many people with how shall I say. A high degree of emotions were easily fooled.

It is a storm in a tea cup. The British Government ignore it. So do the Windsor's. It is only entertainment on forums

Wise words Talon. Bravo Sir. I do however wish your countrymen saw past the liberal game. 18 pages of this nonsense. And it didn't dawn on them they were being played by the same liberals on YouTube videos waving "Vagina" signs.

Let there be no doubt that nobody hates Trump more than over half of the US.

The Electoral College was supposed to prevent a lunatic from getting elected. Our system has failed. And we are sorry!

I'm English so my ancestry comes from good Roman/Viking/Anglo-Saxon/Norman stock, and we later donated our genes to America as the history books rightly say-
"The Spanish went to look for gold, the French went to set up trading outposts, but the English went to stay"..:)
So diluting that good American stock with muslim immigration is not a good idea.

PS- I take it you're of Polish stock and we're glad to have you in Britain, you did good..:)

Below- Polish 303 'Kosciuszko' Sqn (RAF) claimed 126 kills in the Battle of Britain, the nazis were terrified of them because they had the fearsome reputation of ramming German bombers when their ammo ran out-

Our Electoral College was designed to prevent a few heavily-populated urban centers from disenfranchising the rest of the country. Consequently, it forces politicians like Hillary Clinton who are trying to hide from the public to get out and face the electorate and attract as much support throughout the entire country as they possibly can.

    Red = Trump

Our system worked, and we are not sorry.
