The 227 wards of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are going to polls today, Tuesday. The polling will last for 10 hours starting at 7:30 AM and lasts till 5:30 PM. The results of these elections will be declared on the 23rd of February. BMC holds the status for the biggest municipal corporation in the country. A total of 2,275 members are competing for 227 seats in the elections. Apart from BMC, there will be nine other civic bodies that will be going to polls in Maharastra on Tuesday. The polling started early in the morning and witnessed confused voters roaming to different poll booths as some of the slips provided by BMC had no booth numbers on them. The NCP Chief Sharad Pawar cast his vote at Mahalakshmi, Mumbai at booth number 11. Bal Thackeray, the Maharastra Navirman Sena (MNS) chief voted in the polls. He was accompanied by his mother, and renowned singer and wife Padmaja Fenani. In the 2012 elections, MNS grabbed 27 seats in the BMC elections and 7 seats in the 2007 elections.
