I fully understand that there are rights that men do not have that women do have. What do you think you are going to help me with? I asked a question. You responded with a question. I need to answer your question even though you did not answer my question? Then you imply that I might be ignorant?
There are two very different reasons for asking your initial question. Either you seriously don't know or understand why there is a forum for Women's Rights but not for Men's Rights or you do know why but you disagree with those reasons and are trying to create an opportunity to make that political point. I need to know which of those reasons is behind your question to know what the "right" kind of answer would be (or whether it's worth bothering at all). I'm leaning towards the second possibility though.
Oh please. When there is an inequality, the issue is going to be named for those who are in the position of being the lesser. Do you really think there is going to be a MOVEMENT around the idea that men should have MORE of an advantage over women? That's as stupid as thinking we need more white supremacists.
Its a historic term. In the past women were second class citizens in many ways, denied a wide range of rights. In a lot of places (though still not all) this has been legally resolved, with gender not being a factor in the application of rights (and responsibilities). Some specific womans rights questions remain, in a few legal quirks, in some parts of the world and in general social attitudes and wider questions of how gender is addressed in our societies (including mens rights) that can be discussed here despite the historic topic title. Mens rights as a formal term is relatively recent (possible even post-dating the creation of this forum in common usage) and tends to deliberately refer to a much tighter and more specific discussion. Its doesnt carry the same scope and scale as this sub-forum which is why it isnt one itself. I do hope that helps explain.
My question was a point... not an attempt to be taught something. There are Civil Rights and Human Rights and Race Relations forums... then a very specific one regarding gender orientation which is appropriate... then... Women's Rights. The omission of a Men's Rights forum high lights Sexism. There are post conception parenting rights, child support rights and other rights that men are oppressed with that should be addressed. When these are brought up in a forum that omits Men's Rights these issues are generally dismissed as being misogynist. It is an issue that my question is hoping to illicit discussion on. - - - Updated - - - How about all people are treated equal instead? - - - Updated - - - How are equal rights more rights?
Which would be accomplished by having every single subset of human having their own forum. We must have clearly defined boxes, & many of them.
I said absolutely nothing about "more rights". I said that when there is an inequality, the movement will be toward equality and will most likely be named for the group that is experiencing less than equality. Now, answer my question: ==>Do you really think there is going to be a MOVEMENT around the idea that men should have MORE of an advantage over women?
You said more of an advantage over women... how is this possible if not by more rights? No. You answer my question first. What is it with some of you answering a question with a question then demanding that your question be answered first?
You just didn't like the answer!! There are numerous ways a sub population can experience discrimination. Yet, you ask how that is possible if not by more rights. But, discrimination is about unequal treatment - regardless of whether it relates to rights or not. So, for example, it can have to do with equal pay for equal work. Or it can have to do with disproportionate attention by police or other authorities. Or, it can have to do with gerrymandering. Or, it can have to do with not allowing members of the sub population to hold certain positions in the military. Etc., etc. Now, answer my question: ==>Do you really think there is going to be a MOVEMENT around the idea that men should have MORE of an advantage over women?
I gotta lighten the mood You're welcome.
You have no manners. Answer my question first. That is how adults talk. Children do what you are doing... answering a question with a question and then whining that their question was not answered. Pathetic. - - - Updated - - - Can't a male abortion doctor do that too? What other rights might there be?
