Editorial IBD (http://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/is-global-warming-science-just-a-fraud/) 2/24/2017 ===== There are folks that say "I don't believe in a god, I believe in science". The problem w/ that is the fact that while science is an excellent method of inquiry it's horrible when it's turned into a belief system. This is becuase it's easier for folks to forget the substance of science (observation and analysis) and replace it w/ the form of science (guys w/ white coats and thick books pompously strutting). Personally, I vote against using my tax dollars to supplant the substance w/ the form.
Some of it is exaggerated because there is potentially so much money involved that many well informed people want to emphasize certain parts of the formula that may not be as important as other facts are but...... basically...... our kids and grandchildren are in pretty serious trouble. http://www.politicalforum.com/envir...long-term-effects-climate-change-logical.html Is this analysis of the probable long term effects of climate change logical? On the positive side.... one nation on earth has experienced COOLING in its climate since 1950 and strangely enough........ on a per capita basis that nation led the world in a combination of planting trees and in large scale desalination of ocean water for agriculture, reforestation projects as well as for towns and cities experiencing drought. You guessed it...... ISRAEL!
Well, I was long a skeptic of Global warming, and still kind of am. But, considering some 70 degree weather days in February here in Connecticut, I'm not so sure.
not a fraud, but its not going to lead to the day after tomorrow. Love how much people lose their minds over it.
Actually.... it could lead to The Day After Tomorrow...... but doesn't have to and our choices are important..... I am a Christian who believes that we Christians should begin to take the advice of Rabbi Yeshua - Jesus more serious to agree with our adversaries, (I assume to the degree that they are probably correct)..... and we should quote and apply an ancient verse from Islamic prophecy. http://www.politicalforum.com/opini...saving-new-orleans-florida-rising-oceans.html
Weather isn't global warming. We have had a warm winter but two winters ago it was so cold that my old drafty house wouldn't warm above 55°.
Post like this OP are just stupid. No, its not a fraud. What's a fraud are you people so ignorant to even know anything about science and think some oil and gas company person knows more about science than the vast majority of scientist with mounds of data and 1000s of peer reviewed journals. Anybody can write a blog, an article in a paper, scientific journals must pass scientific scrutiny before published, the hypothesis and theories must be sound, the data must be sound, the experimental design must be good as well. The only people strutting around pompously are the anti-science fools that are so lacking critical thought that they are so easily manipulated by propaganda and lies. Look at all the people who still think vaccines cause autism or are bad, up their with antibiotics are one of best medical breatkthroughs and most successful, with such a huge success rate where no other medicine works anywhere nearly as good There may be some of you that are young, but the effects on our climate is undeniable. We used to have regular seasons. Cold, snow in winters. Now we are getting tornados in February, 80 degree days in the middle of winter, severe droughts, severe flooding, powerful storms, record breaking wildfires, extreme heat waves, etc. I can't believe that people would actually believe the nonsense of oil and gas companies that have fought so hard to keep making billions and billions off of a dirty energy source that is polluting the world. And science works, the fact you are likely alive, typing on a computer, with all the technology around you that work, and are based off of scientific discoveries, prove just that
There is a crisis in peer review. Gibberish papers have been published and accepted to prove the point. There is a perverse incentive to publish for academics. Very very few papers pass the test of time.
The reality is that President Donald J. Trump is wise to do an audit of the Federal Reserve..... not just to get the exact numbers.... but to define the role for the Federal Reserve....... up until now the role of the Fed has been significantly smoke and mirrors to keep the ignorant masses...... confused as to what was really happening...... our elitist ancestors felt that this was the only way to keep those lethargic, drunken, immoral, deplorable ignorant commoners working and working and working...... but a new day is here....... I attempted to explain some aspects of this in two of my four campaigns for public office..... (in which I actually bothered to use spell and grammar check).... www.BankingSystemsFlaws.blogspot.ca/
Nice cliche, but receding glaciers worldwide is not weather. Montana might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of glaciers. Elsewhere, however, the situation is similar. The Columbia Glacier in Prince William Sound, the world's fastest-melting glacier, slides into the ocean at a rate of 80 feet per day. This tidewater glacier is up to 3,000 feet thick, but it has thinned up to 1,300 feet in places during the past 25 years, and researchers say it's stretching like taffy. Each year, it dumps 2 cubic miles of ice into the sound. In Greenland it's not uncommon nowadays for glaciers to recede several miles in one year. http://www.livescience.com/674-glaciers-disappear-photos.html
The globe warms, the globe cools. That being said, I don't think anyone can say with a straight face... Unless they stand to profit from the resulting hysteria... that since say, the late 1700's forward, human activity alone has sped up, or depressed the global cycle of temperature change. Have we had any effect? Perhaps. Since it's impossible to know exactly where this cycle of climate change would be w/o human activity, it's wise to watch the process, & intelligently adjust our actions, without breaking the bank, to soften our impact.
LOL, we are in a 2.5 million year old ice age interspersed with short warming periods and people are surprised that ice melts when it is warmer.
Yeah, it's a load of laughs. So you agree we are in a "Warming Period"? For the last 25 years or longer? So what makes it funny? Do you disagree that man has had anything to do with this warming?
Yeah I think we went over this between us a decade ago... Yes it is currently an Ice Age Yes it has been warmer Yes, the Earth has been slowly "losing" carbon dioxide from the atmosphere since photosynthesis began and if this is not reversed then eventually almost all life on Earth will cease. BUT The theory of greenhouse gasses and global warming is not scientifically disputed, it is merely the timing and impact of the phenomenon The "carbon soak" has been reversed and we are increasing the greenhouse gasses, with current level CO2 level the highest they have been during the tenor of modern humans. The average of all views on timing and extent of the impact indicates that climate will alter too rapidly and inconsistently for many natural species to adapt and for our society to adapt
The planet is warming. It has been warming since the end of the Little Ice Age. That does not mean that oil consumption is the driver here. Our contributions are largely negligible compared what naturally is occurring, and of our contributions, methane is far more a a contributing factor than anything else.
With only a short period of direct measurements. All other measurements are proxies which all have thier own issues one of which is the actual period between measurements which can be up to a couple hundred years between each measurement and none can match direct measurements. So basically you are relying on apples to oranges measurements. I don't know if you know about Mike's nature trick. That is where the proxies we're showing the temperature going down but the direct measurements were showing the temperature going up so they cut off the inconvenience part of the proxy to paste on the direct measurements.
Yeah, we get your rhetoric, irrelevant, and repeated over and over. But you didn't answer any questions.
Methane impact on glabal warming is 28% that of CO2 In any event, human activity accounts for 64% of methane emissions next - - - Updated - - - What is the point of this response? it did not address any point of my post.
