This thread is mostly for fun so, please, no "all languages are beautiful" crap in here. Here we just share our subjective opinions on which European (only to narrow it down and make it easier) language we find to be the ugliest. To my ears it certainly is Dutch/Flem (sorry Dutchies). There is just something about that language that I cannot stand. Ugh. I cannot really put my finger on what it is, but the language just annoys the heck out of me. But I love the way they speak English.
It's hard to say. I want to say Swedish, but I like Swedish. I like German and Russian as well. Never heard flem.
Not a fan of Danish, Finnish, Estonian or the Baltic languages; I also feel like romance languages are waaay overrated (except Romanian, which is waaay underrated).
I had a friend from Russia and everyone loved to hear her talk. Cashiers would comment on how beautiful her language was.
...but every language is beautiful!!!! j/k German is harsh. Danish is also. I've also heard its one of the hardest languages to learn.
Danish is gross, but Finnish is friggen awesome. But probably only think so because I speak it myself. Lol. I absolutel despise Romanian.
Her mind you. Opinions would have been different if it was a man. My thesis stands strong; Russian is only beautiful if spoken by a female. No idea why so many seem to dislike German. Guess people automatically think of an aggressive Hitler speaking to his people. I am pretty neutral on it.
Maybe it does have a bit to do with Hitler, it just sounds hard and abrupt. French and Spanish are the opposite, almost musical and flowing. "Je t'amie...it just sounds beautiful. I watched a show last night with Australians in it. I Love that accent. I wish Americans talked like them.
It is awesome. You spelled it wrong. I took French for five years "back in the days" and I always hated it and still do. Too arrogant sounding and I do not really like Spanish too much either. I prefer Italian. It is simple to pronounce and very beautiful. I like British more than Australian. American English is OK as long as it is not from New York or "overly redneck".
aww I did. Je t'aime. I took Spanish... what can I say. Italian yes, Brits...they sound snobby and constipated.
What do you have against Finnish anyways? Hahaha. "Constipated". I prefer Catalan over Spanish. Sounds so cool.
English is beautiful for its class system; Toilet, lower class English is 'bog/John/loo etc...' higher class English 'lavatory'. Therefore, English is a more poetic language to German. English can be broken. It is becomes it's, cannot becomes can't. In German, you stick smaller words together to make bigger words. I love it because English is my mother tongue and I can understand any form of English going even broken/patios English. Languages evolve, and that's why in England in school during English, we have to learn Shakespeare because his works are great examples of documented Olde English where 'let' used to mean 'to not allow' and now it means the opposite. - English evolves, just like any other language and it continues to evolve today. Emoji is in the Oxford English Dictionary...
