    A real "Redneck" is typically a poor and not too intelligent White who does manual labor, like on a farm. He wear overalls and a hat so his neck gets sunburned.

    Up North they call them "Hillbillies."

    I don't think it's racist. After reading Hillbilly Elegy, I believe they are quite secure in their identity.
    In Australia, we have Bogans, who aren't from the country, but have a similar outlook on life.

    I have think the key point is the term race. Redneck does not refer to en entire race. It does not even refer to all Americans. It is a stereotype that may or may not fit some people choosing a lifestyle and set of beliefs.

    Which is why cracker, redneck and white trash are not racist, they are derogatory terms for poor whites, not whites in general.
