I see. You know, not all Indian food is Curry I like Saag. Ceylon is kinda fruity and this place I know does Pakistani Food too, Kashmir, but I don't like Kashmir because it's 'too bananary' (too much Banana with my chicken).. Curries also have different names; I know there's a pecking order over spice and I believe Vindaloo is the hottest. So 'chicken vindaloo' is just a really hot chicken curry.
Also, for a nation of stake and kidney pie eaters, it's no wonder that Curry is the number 1 food in the UK. ''
Yep, yep freshly ground is always better than the commercial store bought stuff. I was on an Indian food kick awhile back. They are some tasty dishes.
I'm a guy who walks into a Chinese place and orders chicken curry and goes to an Indian place for egg fried rice. Egg fried rice from an Indian place is different to egg fried rice from a Chinese place, both are nice.
Curry only works with chicken. The greatest spice in the world is basil. Works with any kind of meat there is.
I am not a huge fan of "Asian cuisine" tbh. Now I might have to add that I have never been to Asia to have "the real deal" and base my judgement solely on what is being branded as Chinese and Indian here in Sweden. I am not saying it is awful, it certainly is not. However, my tastebuds are better friends with "Mediterranean food" (if I am allowed to nake that generalisation) as dishes from this area tend to be pretty "natural" in terms of seasoning and still taste absolutely delicious. Nothing beats the Italian cuisine and Turkish, Spanish and French are not too bad either. Persian food beats Indian food too. On my top list, India is barely top 10. F*ck curry!
I really like this Indian snack called chanachur that in the UK is called Bombay Mix. Apparently in the USA it's called Punjabi Mix... (I wish I knew that sooner); But I still never saw it in America. It's a salty snack. Mmmmm om nom nom.
Nearly all food is served with rice (they have special method for boiling it making it really nice) and the dishes mostly consist of fresh vegetables and (lamb) meat. The food is not hot, but has alot of seasoning, saffron and tumeric are the typical spices found in Persian food. Really tasty. When I grew up, I had an Iranian neighbour who always used to bring us food. There is a Persian restaurant where I live too that serves pretty good food.
There are a great many other Indian foods besides just curry but I thought that we talking about spicy dishes. Yes, Vindaloo is very hot but add Tamarind or Mango chutney sauce and that alters the flavor enough that it is more palatable for those who can't handle that level of spiciness. Thai and even Japanese food can be spicy (wasabi) so it is best to try with someone who knows about them so as to guide you.
EVERYTHING works with chicken because it is so bland. Curry works with all kinds of vegetables and meats.
Yeah, they are kind of similar. Persians like to put dry berries in theirs though. They have their own speciality too where they let bread burn in the bottom of the pot creating a nice golden, crispy layer.
No, it is normal, boiled rice except they somehow add bread to the bottom of the pot, resulting in a crispy, golden layer on top of the rice. I believe it is called 'tadig'. Something similar to currants, yes.
Today I made 6 Salisbury steaks which I broiled in the oven. Made gravy with it and mashed potatoes and vegies. No curry.
