SMH at OP. I dont think Islam is a reliable source for perspective on gays, being that muslims tend to prefer to kill them in particularly grissly ways while simultaneously holding women as sex slaves, raping children (of either sex) when they have a 'sexual emergency' and purportedly often have a very strict 'dont ask, dont tell' policy when it comes to homosexual orgies, the philosophy of which seems very similar to the ancient greek custom- women are for procreation, men are for fun, insinuating that muslim culture doesnt actually hate homosexuality, but merely hates it coming out the closet. Its really just the most sexually effed up culture you could ever find, and the absolute worst source to use as 'moral compass' of sexuality. The morals and ethics for sex are very easily defined at the line of 'consenting adults.' Trying to put the line anywhere else is just an agenda to divide, destabilize and control society by invading the privacy of our bedrooms.
I really take offense at this one. While there are some homosexuals who have interests in children...it is a very small minority and on the whole there is no connection between homosexuals and pedophiles. In fact, all of the homosexuals that I know are as horrified as I am about sexual predators who target children. Well then, on an academic and intellectual level you should be able to answer my question. If homosexuality is now something you're born into and is a choice... When did you choose to be straight? I've been looking back into my life and I can't remember a time when I said "I think I'm going to be heterosexual. Now where are the ladies at so I can give my end away?" I can't and neither can my friends. All we can remember is that there was one moment when we looked at the girls and realized that they were a little less icky than we remembered and were starting to get funny feelings in our nether regions whenever we thought about them.
Isnt homosexualist redundant? It's like calling a woman a sapphist-why not simply say somebody is gay?
"Improper" is a very loaded term and connote huge religious bias. And there is no reason at all to bring religion into this discussion, there is a seperate sub-forum for that. Science holds the answer for most questions and it has proven that homosexuality (and transsexuality) are both the result of chemical changes in the fetal brain. If you wish to apply religion you could see it as God punishing the parents or something, but citing Bible passages and stuff like intergalactic green-people do not belong in this thread. If homosexuality is a "disease" or whatever, then heterosexuality is too. In fact this perspective is no different from that of the social constructivist thought - "Homosexuality is just a construct that can be cured with social engineering in the form of exorcism!" You are born gay. What man in his right mind would reject sex with a beautiful woman anyways?
Bibically, certain parts are private because they are only (except for things I guess like medical situations) for a person's spouse. Homosexuality is by definition people touching the privates of the same sex-and that is a sin for the obvious reason anything else is a sin.
So homosexuality is okay because they are consenting adults? What are the other reasons? Homosexuality is sinful because of the definition of it.
That is the only reason. You are free to believe whatever you want is sinful. If I am not part of your church it does not matter
The definition of homosexuality is people touching the privates of the same gender. That is why Christians view it as sinful. It really is a simple issue.
That's nice. Some religions can't drink alcohol, some can't eat certain foods, some have other weird customs. Many would consider you a sinner I am sure. But it doesn't matter. That stuff belongs in your church
Isn't that all homosexuality is-by definition? People say some animals are gay, but animals don't have moral standards to have physical boundaries, so I wouldn't use that word for them.
Orientation by definition deals with attraction not action, (as is homosexual and heterosexual), it does not mean "touching privates". What are you, five?
First of all you have to realize that morality is defined by the moral codes of the belief system that one follows. You might feel that homosexuality is immoral based on your beliefs, but others do not because of their beliefs. If morality was universal...then why do certain belief systems prohibit having a cheesburger when others don't? Especially since Judaism predates Christianity. And to answer your question, I'll have to respond with a question...how is a person born with a desire to eat apples while others don't like them? How is a person born to enjoy Chesapeake Blue Crabs when someone else can't [smurf]ing stand them? That's an example from my own personal experience. I'm damn near considered a blasphemer for being born on Maryland's Eastern Shore and not liking crabs. I have literally heard someone say "I can't stand homos, but I'd rather sit at a table with a poof than that guy (me) as long as he (the homosexual) at least likes crabs." at an all-you-can-eat crab house. But that aside, sexuality has never been a choice. At no point did I ever wake up and decide one morning to be heterosexual. It was a gradual process where I noticed that girls were less "icky" and the sight of them and their newly developing curves started giving me funny feelings in my joy department. For Homosexuals...first of all why would they want to choose something that was likely to make them outcast from society and secondly it's not like they said one morning "I'm tired of corn flakes. I think I'll have tadger instead."
