But that's like having nothing in common with someone in real life, but instead of 'walking away' you stick around and have to listen to stuff you don't want to hear or find boring, whereas by ignoring them you'll have more time to 'listen' to stuff from others which you do want to hear/don't find boring? Nothing 'cowardly' about it, merely an expedient.
Come on now - who can honestly say they've never not been tempted to click on a hidden post to see what the ignored one has said? Not often that I do it, but 'Guilty as charged, m'Lud!'
But if someone is just responding to, or justifying a given stance to various posters who've all made counter arguments or challenges, it can seem that the co-respondent is trolling??
That wasn't the case with this troll, his actions weren't exclusive to just my posts, the guy is a pathological troll who derails every discussion he disagrees with.
Uh, I can't "hear" the posts in this forum...and you do? Sorry, that's weird. The posters name is in a convenient place on the forum, I see it , I ignore it , that isn't exactly time consuming.. But I think lots of cowardly posters put those "they don't want to hear" on ignore because they can't face the truth....I've seen it happen...
I agree to a point. Those posters use ignore as "talk to the hand" gesture. It is cowardly. There are also a few delusional weirdos and will stop at nothing to keep their online persona. Its sad but necessary to ignore posters like that.
Ive ignored and then thought..."whats that idiot babbling about now". lol Ignoring should be more "cease to exist" while posting.
Actually if some posters want to flaunt their ignorance to the whole world by posting krap and making themselves look stupid, why should we care?..
I have 3 people on ignore. One already spends a lot of time in the corner and one I suspect by their density may be a pro poster. The other I forget why, but 2016 election wore my nerves thin with the three.
I think I only really have one so far, and I really only intend on putting people that appear to be diehard partisan shills on that list. I can appreciate a disagreement, even a violent loud one, with lots of name calling, because those can be fun, so long as people can be rational. I just don't care for people that tow the line for seemingly no other reason than towing the line. Lemmings will not be spared on the day of reckoning.
Sometimes the ones you want to ignore actually write something worthwhile. Not often but it happens. Don't have an ignore list, everyone has a right to his/her opinion.
This is true, however, you just might learn something. Anyone who has an opinion has it for some reason.
I reset my iggy every year at Lent when I forgive everybody. But most of these that were iggy'ed end up iggy'ed again very soon.
None. I usually pick and choose whom I reply to. If I get someone who is obnoxious and calls names and can only offer back a party line response. I don't reply and move on to other threads or posts. So basically there are times I just ignore folks, but haven't put anyone on my ignore list.
There's an ignore feature? When I want to ignore someone I write the reason on a post-it note and then stick the post-it over their forum post. The system works pretty well other then me having to reposition the post-its every time I scroll.
