Memorial Day is for all the vet's who did not make it back.

Veterans Day is for those who were lucky enough to.

I celebrate Veterans Day for myself and my buddies who also made it back.

And Memorial Day for my dad and buddies who did not.

Any person who confronts painful/dangerous situation for others is honorable. The danger of losing life is extreme. Parents have been known to risk their lives for their children. But this involves our natural instincts. To risk your life for your society or nation takes the cake; it is driven by courage and conviction; dedication to a cause higher than one's own self. All veterans deserve gratitude of us, who stay behind to enjoy the fruits of their sacrifice.

To me, it is a shame on rich America that veterans can be left in poverty and helplessness subsequent to their service. I know of poorer countries, who provide their veterans with financial security and the society treating them with honor and respect.

A good society would have well paid police, teachers, and soldiers, and would relive the crippled-in-action and the families of killed-in-action soldiers with financial security.

Many states go out of their way to help veterans.

Sadly more seem to go out of their way to help illegal aliens and felons.

Most of them went in there with good intentions but ended up serving as nothing more than pawns for state sponsored terrorism around the world.

Way to go to turn a thread to honor veterans into something stupidly political. Why did you trolled your own thread.

Pointing out that some states put the well-being of criminals and illegal aliens above that of our veterans is stupidly political? I'd like to know what color the sky is in your world.
