While most appointees are grilled by both Congress and the press, there was ZERO vetting of Mueller before his appointment.

There are numerous reasons why it can be claimed Mueller must recuse himself - or be removed if does not:

    1. He was the former head of the F.B.I. Wikileaks documents and other people have stated that the F.B.I. spies on millions of people in direct violation of law, which is a program that may date back to when Mueller ran the F.B.I. Accordingly, he is not likely to explore his own criminal and unethical conduct.

    2. The Wikileaks documents shows that the F.B.I. has software to make hacking the F.B.I. does appear as if done by the Russians. It is likely Mueller would not likely expose such misconduct by people he appointed and promoted in the F.B.I. - and this practice may also date back to when Mueller ran the F.B.I. If also is possible Mueller himself authorized such disinformation.

    3. It is now a fact that the F.B.I. up to the Director himself are leakers, including criminally leaking information. Mueller himself may have been one of the leakers in the past or now. Since this is another reason Mueller himself also should be investigated, he can not head the investigation.

    4. Comey made statements that may have implicated himself in criminal conduct. Comey specifically stated he leaked the memo hoping to cause appointment of a special counsel - which happened to be Mueller, who had recommended Comey replace him as director. Both have acted for each other in ways that rewarded each other with MILLIONS of dollars plus power and statute. They are so close on a personal and economic level they might as well be married. This leaking action by Comey will result in millions upon millions of dollars to Mueller and his lawyer buddies in legal fees. With Comey having gotten Mueller MILLIONS of dollars, is it reasonable that Mueller would impartially investigate Comey? Would you indict someone who had just gotten you millions of dollars for your own pocket?

    5. As Director of the F.B.I., Comey may have knowledge of past illegal or unethical conduct by Mueller for which Mueller dare not cause Comey any problems. Given Comey is now in the heart of the investigation, Comey having potential damaging facts and evidence against Mueller disqualified Mueller.

    6. As prior head of the F.B.I., will Mueller investigate actions and policies that he himself may have initiated by people he appointed and instructed to take such actions?

    7. Prior to Comey testifying, Mueller private met off-record with Comey to go over his testimony. Mueller can NOT both give legal advice to Comey, while as the same time being counsel for the government. Since Comey is clearly a player in the investigation, Mueller can not act as a lawyer for different sides of the issue.

    8. Mueller's dislike of Trump and admiration of Comey is a matter of public record, for which Mueller is not impartial.

    9. Overall, Mueller has numerous personal potential liabilities for which it is not realistic that he will negatively investigate himself and report adverse findings about himself.

    10. As former head of the F.B.I., Mueller is THE best witness as to what is the normal conduct of an F.B.I. Director, of the structure of the F.B.I., and of the programs, players and policies. A person can not BOTH be a WITNESS AND LAWYER FOR ONE OF THE PARTIES. Other than for attorney fees, lawyers are STRICTLY prohibited from being witnesses in cases where they represent one of the parties. Since Mueller is a potential material fact witness, he can NOT be the government's attorney - or anyone else's attorney in this matter.

It seems clear that if Mueller does not recuse himself he must be removed as special counsel due to a mountain numerous conflicts of interests and clear appearance of partiality and personal interests.

    What say you?

The OP should read the statute regarding how the Special Counsel is appointed and what the duties and responsibility are first.

There are so many egregious fallacies in the OP that it would not be worthwhile responding until after the OP figures out the role of the SC.

Predictably, Mueller has been hiring fellow Democrats as his staff. Likely Mueller is receiving resumes from the Clinton and Obama, although he checks with CNN and MSNBC to obtain their ok first.

There is a conflict of interest at this point that Mueller can not avoid. The minute he sat down with Comey and discussed the case, he compromised the integrity of the investigation.

Mueller has a long standing relationship with Comey, who is a key witness.

"The law governing the special counsel (28 CFR 600.7) specifically prohibits Mueller from serving if he has a “conflict of interest.” Even the appearance of a conflict is disallowed."

If Mueller doesn't recuse himself he is breaking the law.

I just wonder who would replace him if he has to recuse himself. It wouldn't be unheard of and it's happened a whole lot this past year or so in high profile cases.

I see a BIG problem, Comey is Mueller's friend, Comey is the only criminal involved in this liberal witch hunt. If Mueller can't or won't recommend Comey for prosecution he clearly must recuse himself now...

The Congressional Committee should call Mueller as a sworn witness. Did he ever leak info to the press? Did he coach Comey on his testimony? Did he every authorize spying on Americans? What does he know about the F.B.I. having software to make hacking look like it was done by the Russians? What conversations of any kind did he have with Comey - ever - prior to being appointed special counsel? How much is he charging the government per hour? Does he have any personal knowledge of any relevant facts?

Trump cannot fire Mueller, now that Mueller is investigating him for Obstruction of Justice.

to do so, would be political suicide.

Obstruction of justice? Nah, more like obstruction of liberal fantasies, as there are no crimes here except those committed by Comey and his leaking. Liberals would be wise to drop and bury this nonsense. Didn't you folks catch the headlines after Sessions' testimony? It was off the front page by the late night news cycle. That is how fast the press dropped it because there was no 'gotcha' moment nor will there be with any continuation of this farce...

    so go ahead, fire Mueller.

    watch what happens. :)

the Senate just voted for more sanctions on Russia and to codify existing ones, so that Trump cannot unilaterally end them on his own. the vote was 97 to 2.

    :)

Nothing will happen if Mueller is fired, the whole witch hunt will end and that will be that. I'm not overly concerned by threats from liberals that can't win elections, haven't won any elections even though they claim there is this huge anti-Trump energy that never materializes. You are the same folks that hyped up Comey's hearing, and that was lackluster to say the least, probably the only person that may faces charges out of that are Comey himself...

Only conjecture. Trump can legally order the entire farce closed and not care what people say. It has been evident since Comey's testimoney that the Russian Collusion is an allusion.

Unfortunately, it seems increasing numbers - mostly on the left and in the media - do not want it to remain non-violent. Promoting riots, murder and violence is profitable as it increases viewership ratings.

Democrat Senator Schumer explained. The NSA/CIA/FBI will crush anyone who defies them - and elected officials in DC know it. Trump as an outsider has the mistaken believe that he or any other elected official has any say over foreign policy. They and the super rich lose trillions of dollars and tens of thousands of jobs if the Cold War with Russia ever ends.

We have been in a Cold War with a non-existent country for over 3 decades - and in their view should be forever. No peace - ever. Their jobs and power - and all that money to keep raining down - is dependent on perpetual wars and military stand-offs - most of all against the U.S.S.R.

The NSA/CIA and FBI have more easily manipulated much of the Democratic Party into a world war posture against Russia than it took Hitler to do so in Germany against Russia. But for Hilary Clinton losing, we would be at war with Russia now if she kept her promise. But they don't want a HOT war with Russia as THEY could die along with everyone else - so they knocked out Clinton easy enough. Some hacks. Some leaks. Comey's bizarre speech of how Clinton won't be prosecuted, just that she is scum. They want an endless COLD War with Russia - and lots and lots of military spending and mini-wars for all the money and power of it.

To make them happy, all Trump needs to do is agree to their wanting war against Syria now, plus more in Afghanistan and Iraq. Ideally, he will pick another country too, plus keep bombing all the countries they and bombs spending billions on. Pick any country. Doesn't matter. We need to ramp up our warfare in the Philippines against the Muslims there. Lots of mega million dollar missiles and smart bombs particularly used. Pick another country for a little war too, any country. Jamaica, Any country south or southeast of Russia. Yemen. Libya again. If he does that they'll shift to protecting him as their new subordinate and mouthpiece figurehead.

The answer isn't really to fire Mueller, just all his administration should stonewall him. Refuse to be interviewed and fight every subpoena all the way to the Supreme Court every time, while constantly attacking him as a radical, a Russian stooge, a Democrat partisan lining his own pockets, and accusing him of all he rightly can be accused of doing while head of the F.B.I. Don't play along with him as he is openly an adversary.

Personally, I think Trump should aggressively pursue normalization with Russia and declare anyone opposing this is just a paid lacky of the defense industry, reciting President and General Eisenhower. Treat Mueller as an anti-American mole of the defense industry, since that's what he is.

Trump should treat this the way Truman treated MacArthur on China, only the parties reversed. Trump should pursue normalization of relations with Russia for the purpose of fighting ISIS, doing joint military attacks with the Russian military. Americans always cheer presidents in war and military victories.

Of course, like with Trump, Democrats would rant they instead want war with Russia, and let the battleline be there. War with Russia? Or Russia as an ally against ISIS and radical Islam.

Losing that, they are now shifting to declaring that no business person can be president without sacrificing everything he has and trying to find any path to Russian money ever in any fashion anytime in the past reaching any Trump enterprise. Forget that Podesta broke criminal laws hiding that he was laundering money thru a sanctioned Russian bank. Simply, the next attack against Trump is going to be a raw attack against capitalism itself, arguing only professional politicians, lawyers and socialists can be president according to the Constitution.

Well, if Trump can shut up, it can be off the news in a matter of weeks. However, I doubt that he can. He's just that stupid.

    perdidochas;

You don't like Trump's tweets? I don't blame you. They helped put him in the White House, to spotlight his opponents and to let the American people what he is doing for them.

Prominent Republicans, including David Frum, former RNC chairman Michael Steele, and Nicole Wallace all agree we need the investigation to complete. They can tell the truth because they are not under the thumb of McConnell.
