    2010.

Sent to persons who had had recently died, it isn't hard to understand when
you send out millions of checks to people who average over 65 that some
    are recently dead.

It isn't hard to demand the money back either. One of those articles said the feds did not even bother doing so with half of it.

I am not so convinced all those recently died or all those sent to prison were new arrivals. IOW, govt waste.

    2010.

Most of the money returned long ago.

What connection to this topic I guess only you know.

This certainly puts into perspective those threads about Kansas and their problems. Long term leftist control of a state will wind up
having people talking about dissolving your entire state due to insolvable money issues. Illinois is the end of the socialism and
    crooked mismanagement line.

The amount of political projection displayed on this thread is astonishing. If this phenomena keeps spreading, this country is done for.

As long as taxpayers outside of Illinois don't have to bail them out, it's all good.

We need federal legislation that allows states to bankrupt. And bankrupt states should revert to the status of US territories and reapply for statehood.

The $15 Minimum Wage Bill waiting on the Governor will fix things right up. Just think, they will be doubling their tax haul :cynic:

Yup, Oberry and crew did a fine job cooking the books for eight years! Anyone with a 6th grade math level could see that many of the economic claims couldn't possibly be true! But the MSM slopped the trough with the lies and the leftist lined up eagerly lapping it up!

I like it. They lose their representation in Washington until they are financially responsible.

That's right. Statehood is an awesome responsibility, not a fricken cash cow.

    Like Puerto Rico?

They're going to try, and a lot of people are in favor of it.

Too bad they still have to get re-elected. Please keep raising taxes and see what happens....

Could you expand on that point?

As well as make any distinctions between what may be troubling you here vs. what may have alarmed you and the rest of us the past 8 years with respect to a phony president, a worthless congress, an evil media and a clueless nation.

That's not a bad idea, but I also like Zorro's idea of it reverting to territorial status. We've been arguing in another thread about Puerto Rico and it's financial mismanagement, but if a State can't govern itself, maybe it should lose that right.

Hot Dog! They have this fixed! It makes perfect sense; mandate higher wages, it will increase spending (ask Henry Ford) and that will drive tax receipts and Chicago is saved! Not only brilliant, but simple, and all in line with "progressive" thinking, win/win/win!

Most certainly, but, making Indiana more in the shape of a basketball? I think this idea may top mine!
