I am expecting President Trump to veto the current version healthcare bill because it does not fulfill several promises he made to the American people: “We’re going to have health care for everybody. There was a philosophy in some circles that if you can't pay for it, you don't get it. That's not going to happen with us." https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-vows-insurance-for-everybody-in-obamacare-replacement-plan/2017/01/15/5f2b1e18-db5d-11e6-ad42-f3375f271c9c_story.htm "Yes, premiums will be coming down. Yes, deductibles will be coming down," Trump said during a victory briefing in the Rose Garden. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2017/05/04/trump_celebrates_obamacare_replacement_promises_premiums_deductibles_will_go_down.html#! “I’m not going to cut Social Security like every other Republican and I’m not going to cut Medicare or Medicaid." http://time.com/4700200/donald-trump-cbo-healthcare-obamare/ "I was the first & only potential GOP candidate to state there will be no cuts to Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid. Huckabee copied me," he said, referring to then-2016 rival, Mike Huckabee. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/03/trump-obamacare-promises-236021 Will Republicans over ride this expected veto?
Historically, Congress has overridden fewer than ten percent of all presidential vetoes. So as you say, highly unlikely.
A veto would come at what cost politically??? Would Republican fallout be counterbalanced by Democratic defectors???
Anyone who thinks Trump would veto ANYTHING coming out of the GOP Congress is seriously deluded. As deluded as anyone who thinks Trump cares about any of his promises or claims in the past. He lives from one TV appearance to the next. Everything else is reruns
