Donald Trump offers 'help' to terminally-ill baby Charlie Gard "US President Donald Trump has made an eleventh-hour intervention in the case of terminally-ill baby Charlie Gard by offering help to save him..." A nice gesture from our President. Let's see how many ways the left can criticize him.
1.) The baby is a Russian agent 2.) Trump is interfering in foreign affairs 3.) Trump -is- the baby. 4.) Trump has sympathy for anyone that's brain damaged, as a point of comparative compassion. 5.) Trump will sell the child to a sex-slave ring in Russia. 6.) The baby obstructed justice. 7.) The Gard's are actually descendants of the Lienz Cossack's. 8.) The baby is property of the government, so we have no right to interfere. 9.) Because the child was born brain damaged, it was never really alive, so it can't be considered a human being. 10.) Trump wants to eat the baby. Just ten off the top of my head.
I hope the family can get the help they need. I was disturbed by how the court took that decision away from the parents.
Also, the baby is a fascist nazi who hates gays and muslims. Prayers to the child and parents, and Kudos to Trump.
All you proponents of government health care take note: "British courts decided that Charlie should be allowed to die after a heartbreaking legal battle in which doctors asserted that the child had no chance of survival, and Charlie's parents argued that there was an experimental treatment in the United States they had not tried. The case was taken all the way to the European Court of Human Rights, which declined to hear the case Tuesday, upholding previous court rulings that it was in Charlie's best interest to withdraw life support." https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...ill-be-allowed-to-die/?utm_term=.434698c4fdc8
Personal opinion? If the parents want to try the treatment, and the child can be transported here to the US safely, then I see no reason why the European courts should interfere with the rights of the parents. It's their child, it's their money to spend, and it's their hope to try.
I worry what will happen if the "experimental treatment in the United States" doesn't work and he remains in his current miserable condition -- then what will become of the battle about withdrawing life support or continuing it indefinitely? (Terry Shaivo)
After the fiasco that was Terry Shaivo, I think politicians would be smart enough to keep their big noses out of it an allow the doctors to do their jobs. Politicians don't belong in the operating room, and they damn sure don't belong in the doctor's office making regulations about who can and can't get care. That should be left to the doctors and scientists who actually know what is going on.
That point was already reached in this case, there being no chance that the treatment would work but, on the other hand, continued pain and suffering. Hence the "battle" in the courts, focused solely on the best interests of Charlie Gard.
I don't know how they are being legally stopped from taking him to the US if they are the ones paying the bill. Or is the cost being paid by the British taxpayers? Then I understand the legal part of this if they are expecting the British government to also pay for the trip to the US as well. Does anyone know?
The GoFundMe site generated 1.3 million pounds, I think they have enough money to pay for the trip and more.
If that's the case, it's their child. What right does the government have to tell them they can't try any available medical experiments?
Did you actually READ the WHOLE article? Because your first line is not supported by the entire article.
Unfortunately and very sadly, this is EXACTLY another Shaivo-like case. One that Conservatives love to rally around, but only perpetuate more pain towards the inevitable conclusion.
How many babies will die if Trump's DeathCare bill gets passed with its deep cuts to Medicaid and women's healthcare in general? Good for this baby if it works out but let's not pretend that Trump gives a rat's **** about any babies who can't get him the attention that he desperately craves.
This whole thing is a joke. A cynical (and PATHETIC) attempt (by Trump) to DEFLECT from his ongoing Trainwreck. But, think about Trump's IMBECILIC HYPOCRISY: He wants to help save a baby in another country while (at the same time) advocating throwing 32 million Americans off of Heathcare. You can't make this stuff up. Trump is absolutely clueless. Trump? The definition of a MORONIC IDIOT.
Apparently, they can't treat him in the UK. From what I gather, it is the hospital's opinion that further treatment would be cruel and ineffective and from something I read earlier but can't verify, the hospital overrules the parent's decisions on the matter. I say if it's possible, let them bring him to the US. He's terminal and in bad shape. While the experimental treatment they are hoping for may not work, it gives him the chance and may advance the science so lives can be saved in the future.
It's ok, we will harvest their organs then. If you oppose that, you hate women and their reproductive rights.
