Both philosophies were hostile to capitalism and modern concepts of democracy. Indeed, early 20th century Socialists were much like Hitler in terms of racial views. Since that is no longer in vogue, the Left has gone out of its way to deny its origins and remake itself.

Most if not all that was the result of Bkacks being concentrated in urban areas and the north, parts of the far West and the Midwest had densely populated urban areas the South had little of that.
